It’s finally happening. As more and more vehicles are going hybrid or electric, we’re seeing the rise of electric pickup trucks. Many people thought this wouldn’t happen for years, but it’s here, and with good reason. People are starting to get on board with electric vehicles, and car manufacturers are proving that an electric pickup can be just as good as a fuel-powered one. In fact, sometimes they can be even better, as is the case with the new Chevy Silverado EV. Set to debut next year as a 2023 model, the 2023 Chevy Silverado will have everything a typical Silverado would – and a glass roof.

The 2023 Chevy Silverado EV will have a glass roof

Maybe you’ve had an SUV or pickup truck with a moon roof or a sun roof. There’s something so wonderful about them, the way they brighten up the interior of your vehicle, especially on a drab winter day. Lately car manufacturers have been capitalizing on what people love so much about windows in the ceilings of cars – sunlight – and they’ve been making them even bigger.

The new Chevy Silverado EV will have a fixed glass roof. While there isn’t a lot of information about what the pickup will look like – Chevy has only provided a brief glimpse at the image of the glass roof – the view we have had makes it appear as though the new Silverado will be unlike anything we’ve seen yet, even from an electrick pickup.

The fixed glass roof will only be available on some trim levels of the new electric Silverado. Although no official pricing has been released, it’s likely that the glass roof won’t be a cheap option. In addition, Chevy will be releasing a commercial line of the Silverados, and this likely won’t include a glass roof which can easily be damaged by supplies.

The Silverado won’t be the only vehicle with a glass roof

It remains to be seen just what the Chevy Silverado EV’s glass roof will look like. However, the concept of a glass roof isn’t new. Sun roofs aren’t just getting bigger, car manufacturers are giving the whole car the opportunity to see the sky with panoramic sun roofs. These extend farther back, allowing your entire car to be filled with sunshine.

Right now you could get a Ford F-150 with a glass roof, if you’re willing to pay for it. This is an option in the highest trim level of the F-150. The 2021 Ram 1500 Laramie also has a panoramic sunroof. We’ll see more pickups with glass roofs as families increasingly buy trucks for their everyday needs.

The electric Silverado will be Chevrolet’s first electric pickup truck

The new electric Chevy Silverado will debut at CES 2022, which takes place in January of 2022. GM is really excited about the new Chevy Silverado EV, and says that no other electric pickup truck will be able to compete with it.

In addition to the fixed glass roof, the new Chevy Silverado EV will have what GM calls Four-Wheel Steer. Four-Wheel Steer gives the pickup the ability to steer all four wheels (as the name suggests). Perhpas most exciting, the electric Silverado will be able to get 400 miles of range on a single charge, making it competitive with just about any electric vehicle on the market.

If you can wait for the Chevy Silverado EV, you likely won’t be disappointed. The fixed glass roof is sure to be just one of the electric pickup truck’s really cool features. And with 400 miles of range, the Silverado EV should be able to suit your needs – especially if you love sunshine.
