Best Used Toyota Tundra Model Years According to Consumer Reports

This truck was once called the “Camry of pickup trucks,” according to Consumer Reports. The Toyota Tundra is one of the best pickup trucks on American soil. Its reputation for reliability is that of legend. However, Toyota’s history for building a reliable machine doesn’t stop at the Camry and the Corolla.

The Toyota Tundra and the Toyota Tacoma are pickup trucks that evoke feelings of trust in consumers. The article by Consumer Reports, highlights used cars, trucks, and SUVs for different budgets. The Toyota Tundra pickup truck is shown as the best used truck for the $10,000-$15,000 budget. For this price, CR recommends the 2010-2012 Tundra. So, according to CR, these are the best used Toyota Tundra model years for a price range of $10-$12 grand.

These are the best used Toyota Tundra model years for a budget between $15,000 and $20,000–according to Consumer Reports. Ratings for these model years show perfect predicted reliability scores. The 2013, 2014, and 2015 are all found for this price point.

These are reliable pickup trucks recommended by CR. They are also loved by consumers. In terms of owner satisfaction, all three of these Toyota Tundra Pickup trucks earned a 4 out of 5 rating.

The 2016 Tundra

For between $20,000 and $25,000, the 2016 Tundra is the recommended. It’s among the best Used Toyota Tundra model years because it’s recent enough to offer more modern tech than some of the older years. CR writes that “easily the Tundra’s best attribute is its 5.7-liter V8, which produces effortless power and a still-competitive 15 mpg.” The review also goes on to claim that “the Tundra is also the most reliable full-sized truck on the market.”

This is probably why it makes such a good used truck. Additionally, the Tundra from the 2016 model year gets a 4 out of 5 for both owner satisfaction and reliability. However, CR does warn that the Tundra can feel bit more rugged in terms of driving experience. At least it does when its compared to other modern pickup trucks. A loud cabin and unrefined handle can bring it down a notch. Still, its predicted reliability speaks for itself.

A Toyota Tundra from 2018

The last truck that Consumer Reports recommends for these various budget ranges is the 2018 Tundra. This is one of the best used Toyota Tundra model years if you have a $25,000-$30,000 budget. Furthermore, this year Toyota truck is another one that received a coveted perfect predicted reliability score from CR.

The 2018 model Tundra pickup truck received the Toyota safety suite for the first time in the truck’s history. It’s rough, gritty and ready to work. However, we should still note that the 2018 Toyota Tundra is still considered unrefined. It’s no luxury truck. But it does get the job done. CR recommends this Tundra as a good used pickup truck.
