Dodge celebrates the end of the V8 engine era in a big way. While not as showy and celebratory as what the brand did for the Charger and Challenger models, the Durango receives a final farewell. Consider the new 2024 Dodge Durango SRT 392 AlcHEMI as the SUV’s Last Call model with a limited run of specially made Durangos. Let’s see what kind of disproved science is happening in this SUV.

The Dodge Durango SRT 392 AlcHEMI isn’t all about power

When Dodge created the Last Call models of the Challenger and Charger, the added more power to make many of these cars exciting. Some of the seven versions gave us classic features, others broke the rules, and the Demon 170 showed its drag race prowess. Dodge isn’t going quite as far with the Durango.

Dodge Garage tells us the AlcHEMI package is mostly an appearance package, giving this SUV unique yellow accents in various parts of the SUV. These yellow accents complement the four main exterior colors:

  • Diamond Black
  • Destroyer Gray
  • Vapor Gray
  • White Knuckle

For this package, the yellow touches are applied to:

  • Brake calipers
  • Fender decals
  • Exterior stripes
  • Interior accent stitching

In addition to the yellow trimmings, the AlcHEMI package includes darkened features, including:

  • Black 20×10 inch wheels
  • Black exhaust tips
  • Darkened grille
  • Darkened liftgate badges

Dodge offers only 1,000 versions of the 2024 Durango SRT392 AlcHEMI, 250 of each color.

Does this special edition Durango have more power?

The traditional Durango SRT 392 uses a massive 6.4-liter Hemi V8 engine to make it go. This engine produces 475 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. Dodge didn’t apply any magical science to this engine, leaving it alone, allowing consumers to enjoy the pure power of this incredible engine. This Durango is impressively quick without adding extra power to the mix.

Which Durango trim receives the AlcHEMI package?

Dodge applies the AlcHEMI appearance package to the Durango SRT 392 Premium trim. This model has a full package of performance features to handle the power and speed associated with the powerful Hemi engine. Some of these features are:

  • Brembo 6-piston front brakes
  • SRT drive modes
  • High-performance suspension and exhaust
  • Upgraded steering
  • Electronic limited-slip rear differential
  • Special SRT seats with suede upholstery
  • Optional third-row delete

This high-powered Durango also includes most of the electronic and safety features found in the top Citadel trim of the regular Durango.

When will Dodge Durango AlcHEMI models arrive?

These Last Call Durangos are heading to dealers in May of 2024. The 2024 Dodge Durango SRT 392 AlcHEMI appearance package adds $3,595 to the SRT 392 Premium trim.

As you can see, the AlcHEMI term isn’t just a disproved science, it’s also a somewhat clever Dodge pun, celebrating the last of the V8-powered Durangos.
