Both the 2023 Ford Maverick and the 2023 Honda Ridgeline are solid choices for pickup truck shoppers. However, the Maverick has some strengths that give it an edge. Here are four advantages that the 2023 Maverick has over the 2023 Ridgeline.

2023 Ford Maverick is more affordable than the 2023 Honda Ridgeline

The first advantage of the 2023 Ford Maverick over the 2023 Honda Ridgeline is affordability. With the average price of new cars at a record high, it can be challenging to find a pickup truck that won’t put a serious dent in your finances. However, one notable exception is the Maverick.

With a starting price of $22,195 MSRP, the 2023 Maverick is the cheapest new truck available in the United States. In comparison, the 2023 Ridgeline costs considerably more, with a starting price of $38,800 MSRP. Along with its affordable price, the Maverick offers much value with its many standard features. Even for the base Maverick XL trim, you’ll get standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, remote keyless entry, a rear-view camera, and automatic emergency braking.

2023 Maverick has higher fuel economy than the 2023 Ridgeline

The second advantage of the 2023 Ford Maverick over the 2023 Honda Ridgeline is fuel economy. Considering how expensive gasoline is these days, an efficient vehicle like the Maverick results in savings at the fuel pump. Also, while trucks have a reputation for low gas mileage, the Ridgeline defies expectations, especially with its standard hybrid powertrain.

The Maverick Hybrid gets an estimated fuel economy of up to 42 city/33 highway mpg, and the fully gas-powered Maverick gets a gas mileage of up to 23 city/30 highway mpg. However, the Ridgeline is a bit of a gas guzzler, with an estimated fuel economy of up to 18 city/24 highway mpg.

Ford Maverick is better for off-road use than the Honda Ridgeline

The third advantage of the 2023 Maverick over the 2023 Ridgeline is off-road capabilities. If you’re aiming for some wilderness adventures, then the Maverick is the better choice for you.

Both pickup trucks offer an all-wheel drive system for enhanced traction. However, the Maverick has higher ground clearance than the Ridgeline (up to 8.6 inches vs. 7.6 inches) for effective and safe driving over rugged terrain. Also, for even greater off-road capabilities, the Maverick offers the FX4 and Tremor off-road packages.

2023 Maverick is more maneuverable than the 2023 Ridgeline

The fourth advantage of the 2023 Maverick over the 2023 Ridgeline is maneuverability. This is due to the Maverick’s smaller size and lower weight. Also, it has a tighter turning circle than the Ridgeline (40 vs. 43.4 feet). With its greater maneuverability, the Maverick can more fluidly drive through traffic and move through curves and around corners. It also makes it easier to park and back up the truck.

The 2023 Ford Maverick has advantages over the 2023 Honda Ridgeline for affordability, fuel economy, off-road capabilities, and maneuverability. When deciding which pickup truck to get, these are advantages to consider.
