A BMW SUV that is easy on the wallet? It sounds impossible, but there are three good options out there that fit the bill. These three used BMW SUVs have plenty of standard features and powerful engines to make the daily drive easier. Plus, national safety groups tested all the sport utility vehicles below and left the stamp of approval.

The list of best used BMW SUVs can’t exist without the 2019 BMW X3

U.S. News said the 2019 BMW X3 is a best-seller for a reason. It has plenty of space inside for passengers and cargo, on top of being a comfortable option. As far as cargo goes, the 2019 X3 has 62.7 cubic feet of space with the seats folded or 28.7 cubic feet without. A 6.5-inch touchscreen is standard, along with satellite radio, USB ports, and Bluetooth.

Even with the 30i base engine, the turbo four-cylinder has enough power to move around town. This version is the more affordable used BMW X3 SUV, but the X3 M40i is also available. The X3 is at the top of the list for used BMW SUVs.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave the 2019 BMW X3 a five-star safety rating. On top of that, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety made the X3 a Top Safety Pick Plus winner.

Maximum Cargo Space: 62.7 cubic feet

Current Range: $38,009 – $50,604

The 2018 BMW X5 is another used BMW SUV worth looking for

Experts and drivers agree on the 2018 BMW X5. While it isn’t the most affordable used BMW SUV out there, it has plenty to offer to make up for it. Athletic handling and a luxurious interior are just a few of those reasons, along with an easy-to-use infotainment system. A backup camera is standard for 2018, so all options on the market should have one.

The standard engine on the X5 is a turbo six-cylinder, but it comes with many other options. A plug-in hybrid powertrain was available along with diesel, plus the xDrive50i and X5 M received V8s. BMW added a power liftgate, push-button start, power-adjustable seats, and even a panoramic sunroof.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave the 2018 BMW X5 a five-star safety rating, while the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave the X5 high scores on performed tests.

Maximum Cargo Space: 76.7 cubic feet

Current Range: $44,293 – $75,119

The 2019 BMW X1 is smaller, making it a little easier on the wallet. Maximum cargo space is 58.7 cubic feet with the seats down, which is average for the segment. Without the seats folded, the X1 gets 27.1 cubic feet of space.

A turbo four-cylinder with 228 hp is standard. Forward collision warning, a power liftgate, and a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay are also standard. Automatic high-beam headlights, lane departure warning, and low-speed automatic emergency braking are also standard.

BMW’s X1 received a five-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave the X1 high scores on most performed tests.

Maximum Cargo Space: 58.7 cubic feet

Current Range: $33,391 – $36,023

While these used BMW SUVs still start above $30,000, that is easy on the wallet for the brand. These options have plenty of safety systems, standard features, and cargo room for most situations. If you need more space all around, the BMW X7 SUV is full-size but definitely not easy on the wallet.
