The Dodge Charger might be heading to the auto industry graveyard, but that doesn’t mean the fans have to count the Mopar model out just yet. The 2023 and 2022 Dodge Chargers are the last model years of the Dodge sedan, and it still has quite a few redeeming qualities. Specifically, there are at least three attributes about the 2022 model that fans can love, like the Dodge Charger’s powerful V8 options and Uconnect touchscreen.

Is it worth buying a 2022 Dodge Charger?

Even though the 2022 Dodge Charger is one of the last iterations before Stellantis and Dodge discontinue the car, it has some likable features. U.S. News liked these three qualities above everything else:

  • Powerful engine options
  • User-friendly Uconnect infotainment system
  • Spacious interior and trunk

Which Dodge Charger has a V8?

The entry-level Dodge Charger with a V8 is the R/T, which packs a 370-horsepower 5.7L Hemi V8. The other Dodge Chargers with V8 engines include the R/T Scat Pack, SRT Hellcat, SRT Hellcat Redeye, and Redeye Jailbreak.

U.S. News likes the 2022 Dodge Charger’s V8 options, calling them “ludicrous” in terms of power. Of course, while the R/T’s 370 horses are impressive, the Scat Pack produces 485 from its naturally aspirated 6.4L V8. Moreover, the supercharged SRT models make anywhere from 717 horsepower in the Hellcat to 807 in the SRT Redeye Jailbreak.

As a result, the R/T Scat Pack and SRT Charger models are some of the most potent lunatics in the sports sedan segment. Also, with a 0 to 60 mph at around the three-and-a-half second mark, the Hellcat Redeye is one of the fastest four-door cars at its price point. That is, if you can launch it without consuming its rear tires.

The infotainment system in the 2022 Dodge Charger is easy to use and navigate

The 2022 Dodge Charger SXT packs a user-friendly seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Further up the trim line, the Dodge Charger GT and V8 trims offer an 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen. Moreover, U.S. News applauds the system for its “intuitive layout, responsiveness, and use of physical buttons and knobs.”

TrueCar says every 2022 model year trim option has Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, satellite radio, Bluetooth connectivity, and a standard six-speaker audio system. However, upgraded models will trade the six speakers for a nine-speaker Alpine unit or a 19-speaker Harman Kardon system.

How much space does a Dodge Charger have?

The 2022 Dodge Charger has a cargo capacity of about 16.5 cubic feet. Moreover, with 105 cubic feet of passenger space, the Dodge sedan will easily accommodate five passengers.

Furthermore, the Charger has more cargo space and interior room than a comparable Nissan Maxima. Specifically, the Maxima stops at about 14.3 cubic feet of cargo capacity.

Why are they discontinuing the Dodge Charger?

Dodge is discontinuing the Dodge Charger after the 2023 model year to focus on its role in Stellantis’ electrification and hybridization initiatives. For instance, the new Daytona SRT EV is a concept of a fully-electric Charger.

The Dodge model may return, but it will be a very different car. What do you think of the Mopar sedan? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
