We had a week with the Lexus RX 350h and put the pedal to the metal. There were places to travel to over Labor Day weekend, and we discovered that the 2023 Lexus RX 350h is a perfect companion for commuting and taking trips.

2023 Lexus RX 350h: What’s new?

The 2023 Lexus RX 350h marks a brand new model year with significant upgrades to consider, including swapping the outgoing V6 engine with a four-cylinder hybrid setup that isn’t short on muscle. Its speed and agility match its cutting-edge design with a unique style.

Plus, the interior is more refined, and the tech features advanced upgrades. The Lexus RX 350h is down to match your vibes with an enticing sport mode that features steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters and a G-force display.

Take it easy in normal mode with the adaptive cruise control system and lane tracing assist. The system controls the steering wheel for you, but you have to keep your hands on the wheel. It can change lanes for you, too. Also, you can save even more fuel in eco or EV mode.

1. How many MPG does the 2023 Lexus RX 350h get?

The 2023 Lexus RX 350h gets an EPA-estimated 37 mpg in the city and up to 34 mpg on the highway. During our week, these figures were spot on, with an average of 35.6 mpg.

We traveled from Rock Hill, SC, to Asheville, NC, to Clemson, SC, back to Asheville, and up to Wolf Laurel, NC, without having to stop for gas. Even on treks that were straight up the mountain, the fuel economy held strong.

You can travel up to 619 miles between fill-ups, and that’s what we did. It’s a hybrid, not the PHEV model, so you don’t plug it in. The batteries charge via regenerative braking.

2. The Lexus RX 350h is comfortable

Spending time in the luxurious 2023 Lexus RX 350h isn’t bad at all. The front seats are well-padded and supportive for hours of comfort. Plus, there are plenty of adjustment controls to find the perfect position. The front seats even have adjustable thigh support.

The rear seat has a tremendous amount of space. At 5’1”, I felt like I had my personal pod to stretch out in and enjoy. The seats are plush and supportive, plus they recline pretty far. Passengers can easily nap in this SUV.

It features a smooth ride over most surfaces. Only extremely rough sections of pavement disrupt the cabin. Also, passengers in the rear have air vents and USB ports to stay charged and comfortable.

The only drawbacks are wind and road noise at highway speeds, and the ventilated seats feel a bit weak. It’s hard to notice the cooling sensation at full blast.

3. How much cargo space does the 2023 RX 350h have?

The 2023 Lexus RX 350h has an abundance of cargo space for luggage and personal items. You can access up to 29.6 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats and up to 42.6 cubes total. There’s plenty of space for luggage but opt for the Lexus RX 350 L for a third row.

Storage for personal items is impressive. There are plenty of trays up front, with a generous center console, generous door pockets, and average seat pockets. The extra cup holders are there if needed.

The Lexus RX 350h is spacious, comfortable, and fuel-efficient, but it’s not perfect. To learn about another Lexus crossover SUV in the lineup that’s a bit smaller than the Lexus RX 350h, check out our list of 2023 Lexus NX 350h pros and cons.
