The 2023 Honda HR-V is currently the least expensive new Honda SUV in the lineup. It comes in three trim levels, the LX, Sport, and EX-L. Pricing for those trim levels is $23,650, $25,650, and $27,450. While the LX trim is perfectly acceptable, upgrading to the Sport trim gets buyers better safety equipment. Blind-spot monitoring (BSM), which Honda calls Blind Spot Information System (BSI) with Cross Traffic Monitor, is included.

Some other Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) have different names but serve the same purpose. Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Low-Speed Follow are also included. Real-time all-wheel drive is available, and both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are compatible. The 2023 Honda HR-V is about as new as it gets, but it has a long history of reliability.

Starting MSRP: $23,650

Honda’s CR-V is a reliable new Honda SUV under $40,000

Of all the options out there, the 2022 Honda CR-V is probably one of the most reliable SUVs in the history of SUVs. It has five trim levels: LX, Special Edition, EX, EX-L, and Touring. The entry-level LX price starts at $26,800 and goes up to $36,600 for the Touring. Honda also offers the CR-V in a hybrid variant. This CR-V Hybrid comes in the EX ($32,010), EX-L ($34,600), and Touring ($37,800) trim levels as well.

Buyers will be happy to know that even the base trim comes with BSI, SMBS, ACC, and things like Forward Collision Warning (FCW). Going up in trim levels only adds more safety and convenience features. Honda has already announced a 2023 version, which hopefully means good deals on the outgoing models. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) gave the 2022 CR-V the Top Safety Pick award.

Starting MSRP: $26,800

The Honda Pilot is approaching the $40,000 budget

The 2022 Honda Pilot jumps up in price a bit but still comes in under $40,000. With three rows, the Pilot can fit up to eight passengers. For 2022, the Pilot comes in seven trim levels, including the new TrailSport off-road focused version. Pricing for the Sport starts at $38,080, and the top-trim level Black Edition goes up to $51,870.

Honda equipped the Pilot with plenty of standard safety features. Even the entry-level trim comes with Honda Sensing Safety & Driver-Assistive Technologies. Things like FCW, ACC, CMBS, and Lane Departure Warning (LDW) are standard on all trims. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gave the 2022 Honda Pilot a five-star safety rating.

Starting MSRP: $38,080

Honda is known for making reliable SUVs, so this list won’t come as a shock. If you are thinking of buying in the next few months, researching prices and information now might save you some time in the future. Honda will be trying to move some of the outgoing models to make room for 2023 versions, which could mean a better deal for you.
