The Subaru Forester returns for 2025 with a new look and price. It’s the sixth-generation Forester and will cost car buyers more than last year. However, even with the price bump, the all-new Forester could compensate for it with a welcomed redesign, a revised interior, and WRX DNA.

The 2025 Subaru Forester is back with a $2,650 starting price bump

The Subaru Forester will enter its sixth generation in 2025. That’s good news for fans of the compact SUV as the perennial favorite among rugged go-anywhere models is back with an all-new look inside and out. However, fans who want the next-gen Forester will have to pay more than last year.

For instance, the base-model SUV’s new starting price rises from $28,440 to $31,090 for the 2025 model year. While a $2,650 bump doesn’t sound like a wild increase, it’s not negligible. It’s an 8.5% increase for the base model. Moreover, it’s the first time the base-model Subaru Forester swelled beyond the $30,000 mark.

In fact, the entire lineup gets a price bump of between $2,000 and $3,000 with the range-topping Touring edition cresting the $40,000 mark. However, as with many popular models, a price increase is understandable given the move to a new generation of Foresters.

The Japanese car brand says the new sixth-generation Forester got the resign treatment along with updated tech and the brand’s symmetrical standard all-wheel drive (AWD) system. What’s more, the maximum cargo capacity increases from the fifth-gen model to the new platform. However, don’t expect an electric vehicle (EV) or hybrid in the lineup; the new Forester is strictly a 2.5L flat-four-cylinder affair. That said, the mill is down two horsepower and up two lb-ft of torque year-over-year.
