The Chevy Trax is all-new for 2024, marking a significant leap forward for this subcompact SUV. The Trax is now larger, touts more features, and wears stylish bodywork reminiscent of its larger sibling, the Blazer. Notably, these improvements come even as Chevrolet reduced the Trax’s starting MSRP to $20,400. So, what safety features and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) does the 2024 Chevy Trax base model include?

The 2024 Trax comes standard with Chevy Safety Assist, a suite of six advanced driver-assistance systems. They include automatic emergency braking, which automatically applies the brakes when a crash is imminent. This feature is enhanced by front pedestrian braking, which can apply the brakes when the Trax approaches a pedestrian. Forward collision alert is also standard, which notifies the driver of a potential forward crash.

In addition, lane-keep assist with lane departure warning is standard. Lane-keeping gently corrects steering to keep the crossover in its lane. Meanwhile, the lane departure system alerts the driver if the Trax begins to drift outside its lane.

Chevy Safety Assist also includes automatic high beams and a following distance indicator to help ensure a safe distance between the Trax and the car in front of it.

Furthermore, Chevrolet includes Teen Driver Technology in all 2024 Chevy Trax trims. This feature requires a driver to buckle up before setting off, and parents can set speed warning notifications or limit audio volume in certain situations. Additionally, a “report card” can show parents information about their teen’s driving habits, like distance driven, maximum speed obtained, instances of full-throttle acceleration, and safety alerts while on the road.

Plus, OnStar and Chevrolet Connected Services are standard. However, an OnStar subscription is required. OnStar Remote Access is complimentary for the first three years with the purchase of a new 2024 Chevy Trax.

The 2024 Chevy Trax can also be optioned with additional driver’s aids and safety features. For instance, shoppers can add lane change alert with blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear park assist via the Driver Confidence Package. When added to the LT, 2RS, or Activ trim, this package also includes adaptive cruise control.

The Driver Confidence Package costs $395 to add to the LS base model and 1RS trim. Meanwhile, the package and adaptive cruise control cost $795 to add to the LT, 2RS, and Activ trims.

Unfortunately, GM’s cutting-edge Super Cruise semiautonomous driving system is unavailable for the 2024 Trax. That’s likely so the automaker can keep production costs of the reasonably priced 2024 Trax low.

Other notable standard features in the cheapest new Chevy

Other standard interior features in the all-new Trax include an 8.0-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 3.5-inch digital driver’s display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a four-speaker sound system, a Wi-Fi hotspot, a six-way adjustable driver’s seat, and cloth upholstery.

The base model’s exterior features include 17-inch steel wheels, LED headlights and running lights, body-color door handles, a manual liftgate, and power outside mirrors.

Regardless of the trim, every 2024 Trax packs a 137-hp 1.2-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine and a six-speed automatic transmission.

Pricing starts at $21,495 with the destination charge, while the range-topping 2RS and Activ trims share the same price at $24,995. However, their features differ slightly.
