Growing pains are really starting to hurt the Ford Maverick, but it couldn’t really keep up with rampant demand in the first place. Ever since it debuted, it has been slammed with more popularity than expected. As a result, the 2024 Ford Maverick is dropping features to try and keep up.

2024 Ford Maverick: What’s new?

The 2024 Ford Maverick is primarily a carryover model. It’s part of the first generation that dropped in 2022, so it still feels fresh and modern. However, a few features that made it pretty exciting have been dropped.

For example, the hybrid engine is no longer the standard engine option. The entry-level $20,000 price has been long gone as well. Now the gas-powered engine is standard, and the Maverick starts at $24,995, including the destination fee.

You can upgrade to the hybrid engine for $1,500, which brings the price up to $26,495. Remember that the hybrid setup can’t be paired with AWD.

Also, the Maverick hybrid has more demand than the gas counterpart. You will get your Maverick truck faster by opting for the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine.

Plus, the 2024 Maverick dropped the SecuriCode keypad. So, forget walking up to your truck and punching a code to unlock it.

The manual rear window was cut, which is a bummer for dogs and rear passengers. However, the power sliding rear window is still standard with the Lariat model.

Say goodbye to the Tremor Off-Road Appearance Package. It features a grey-painted roof and mirrors caps with black side graphics and a lower body.

Last but not least, Ford Authority reported that four shades of paint were dropped. Area 51, Avalanche Grey, Alto Blue Metallic Tinted Clearcoat, and Cyber Orange Metallic Tri-Coat were dropped.

When can you order the 2024 Maverick?

The order bank for the 2024 Ford Maverick opened on July 17, 2023. You can place an order and use the build configurator to craft your ideal truck. Surprisingly, the order bank is still open because the 2023 Maverick models sold out in less than a week.

But be prepared to wait. Those unscheduled 2023 Maverick orders have to wait for 2024 models now. Those with 2023 unscheduled orders are currently the priority for 2024 models, and it could take Ford months to catch up.

If you have a 2023 order, contact your local dealership to submit a 2024 model-year order. Pricing for 2023 models is protected. Also, production for 2023-2024 Maverick trucks is expected to begin in November.

How long is the wait for a 2024 Maverick?

The waiting time for a 2024 Ford Maverick could be up to six months or longer. Production is expected to begin in November, but orders for 2023 models are the priority. Also, some people have been waiting for over a year.

Some models have longer waiting times than others. For example, the Ford Maverick Hybrid and the Maverick Tremor are the hardest options to get. Those with 2023 orders may have to drop a few options due to supply constraints.

The 2024 Maverick is dropping features and popular options to streamline production. Consider switching to the gas engine to get behind the wheel faster. Stay tuned for updates about the 2024 Maverick and its production.
