Car shoppers who want to buy a luxury SUV might be considering a BMW, and it shouldn’t surprise those car shoppers that BMWs are expensive. When it comes to the 2024 BMW iX M60 though, the midsize electric SUV’s nearly $110,000 price tag may shock even those luxury SUV shoppers. Here’s a look at the 2024 BMW iX M60, what comes with it, and whether or not the German luxury automaker can justify the SUV’s nearly $110,000 price tag.

These are the trims that BMW offers on the 2024 BMW iX

Currently, BMW offers two trims on the iX. There’s the standard trim, which is known as the xDrive50, and the top trim, which is the M60. The base trim starts at about $87,000, while the M60 starts at just over $110,000. Both trims have somewhat similar powertrains, as they both come with two electric motors, all-wheel drive, and a 111.5-kWh battery pack.

That battery pack gives the standard iX 307 miles of range. It can be fast charged, and it can gain 90 miles of range with 10 minutes of DC fast charging. The standard iX’s two electric motors get a combined 516 hp and 564 lb-ft of torque, and that allows the electric SUV to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds.

The standard iX still comes with plenty of luxury features. The SUV has seats for five, synthetic leather upholstery is standard, as are heated front seats and a heated steering wheel. BMW gave the SUV a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a 14.9-inch touchscreen. It also has many smart safety features, such as forward collision warning, a parking assist system, and automatic high-beam headlights.

What owners get with the 2024 BMW iX M60

Although the M60 trim has the same battery pack as the standard iX, its powertrain is more powerful. The M60’s two electric motors get a combined 610 hp and 749 lb-ft of torque. That extra power allows the electric SUV to go from 0 to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds. The Beemer also got upgrades to its suspension and handling. However, since the battery pack wasn’t changed, its range number drops to 296 miles.

The M60 has other similarities with the base trim in terms of its interior. It still has the same set of screens, and the two trims share many similar safety and security features. The M60 trim, however, gets more. For example, it has an interior camera system and an upgraded parking assist system that includes a 360-degree camera, just to name a few.

The 2024 BMW iX M60 may be worth its price tag

MotorTrend reviewed the 2023 version of the SUV, and overall, the M60 makes a strong case for itself. The automaker didn’t make too many changes in terms of the car’s standard features, but those features are great and should satisfy most car shoppers.

The main changes that BMW made were under the hood. The M60’s more powerful electric motors add a large amount of horsepower and torque, but the standard air suspension also improves the electric SUV’s handling and comfort levels.

When all of the small changes are added up, the M60 was described by the car critic as “properly fun to drive.” BMW shoppers are usually looking for cars that drive well, and those shoppers are exactly the people that the M60 trim is catering to. As such, folks who can afford a high-end luxury SUV will probably think that the iX M60 is worth its over $110,000 price tag.
