When will the 2023 VW Atlas be available?

For the release date, according to Volkswagen, the new 2023 VW Atlas will be available at dealer showrooms starting in late Summer 2022. Trims offered for the 2023 Atlas include SE, SE w/ Technology, SEL, SEL R-Line Black, and SEL Premium R-Line.

According to J.D. Power, the 2023 Atlas receives only minor changes for the new model year. Of these, the most notable update is a 10.25-inch Volkswagen Digital Cockpit Pro to the SE trim with Technology.

The VW Atlas is built at Volkswagen’s plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

How much does the 2023 VW Atlas cost?

The starting price of the 2023 VW Atlas midsize SUV ranges from $34,600 MSRP for the SE trim up to $51,790 MSRP for the V6 SEL Premium R-Line trim. Also, a $1,295 destination fee is attached to every order.

Additionally, the 2023 Atlas costs slightly more than the 2022 Atlas, which has a starting base price of $33,475 MSRP.

2023 Atlas specs: Engine options, gas mileage, and towing

The new 2023 Volkswagen Atlas offers two engine options. Its turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine generates 235 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, while the 3.6-liter V-6 produces 276 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque. Both of the engines are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Atlas shoppers can add the V-6 engine option to any trim except the base level. Volkswagen offers front-wheel drive or a traction-enhancing all-wheel drive option for each Atlas model.

On the efficiency front, the Atlas gets an estimated gas mileage of up to 21 city/25 highway mpg. Also, when properly equipped, the Atlas can tow up to 5,000 pounds. This towing figure is for the V-6 engine, though. With the four-cylinder engine, the Atlas has a towing capacity of 2,000 pounds.

The 2023 VW Atlas can seat up to seven passengers, with a total passenger volume of 154 cu-ft. Also, the midsize SUV has a rear cargo capacity of 20.6 cu-ft and a maximum cargo capacity of 96.8 cu-ft.
