Additional features in the 4Runner 40th Anniversary Special Edition include a body-color-matching TOYOTA heritage grille, bronze-colored 17-inch alloy wheels, and a bronze-colored 40th Anniversary exterior tailgate badge. Also, it has unique badging on the center console, a 40th Anniversary logo on the Black SofTex-trimmed seats, 40th Anniversary floor mats, and bronze-colored seat stitching. 

Exterior paint color options available for the 4Runner 40th Anniversary Special Edition include Barcelona Red Metallic, Ice Cap, and Midnight Black Metallic. As a nod to the 40-year milestone, 4,040 Special Edition models will be built.

Along with the new 40th Anniversary Special Edition, other changes for the 2023 4Runner include blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert driving assistance features, which are now standard for every model.
