You may not notice the Lexus SUV as much anymore, simply because there are so many out there. The 2023 Lexus RX sport utility vehicle will be revamped next year and will get tons of new options for buyers. The new 2023 Lexus RX 500h F Sport Performance variety will get 367 hp and the new DIRECT4 drivetrain for the first time. What else will the luxury SUV get?

Lexus says that the original RX was a “crossover that launched a segment.” The original RX 300 indeed was one of the most popular crossovers to hit the market, and the popularity didn’t stop there. For 2023, the Lexus RX will get four redesigned powertrains with three electric options.

“We’re breathing new life into the segment-leading RX with enhanced safety and technology, human-centered design and undeniable performance from a diverse mix of powertrains.”

Andrew Gilleland | Group vice president and general manager of the Lexus Division

Lexus says it wanted to maintain the attributes that made the RX SUV so popular: a comfortable cabin, a quiet interior, a refined ride on the road, and an enjoyable experience overall. It sounds like Lexus is staying in its reliable luxury SUV lane.

Four new powertrain options set the 2023 Lexus RX SUV apart

One of the most significant benefits to the RX is how many varieties it has always come in. Now, Lexus will offer four new powertrains for the RX. Thanks to the new Lexus Electrified vision, the RX will be in good company.

The RX 350 will be offered in front-wheel-drive (FWD), or all-wheel drive (AWD) coupled with a 2.4L turbocharged inline-four engine. The 2023 RX 350h (AWD) hybrid system features a front unit that integrates a high-torque 2.5L inline-four engine. There will also be an RX 450h+ plug-in hybrid vehicle later on.

The 500h F SPORT gets a new hybrid-electric system with a 2.4L turbo engine and an electric motor. The RX 500h F SPORT Performance utilizes the DIRECT4 drivetrain. And finally, for the first time, an RX 500h F SPORT Performance SUV is available.

What will the new luxury sport utility vehicle from Lexus look like?

As far as the design goes, Lexus calls this new look a “cohesive spindle body design.” A new seamless grille and integrated headlights help with the redesign. A low center of gravity is complimented with new 19-inch wheels. 21-inch wheels are available for those who want a bit bigger. The back end inherits the signature L-shaped light bar lamp with wrap-around lights. While it still looks like the RX SUV everyone loves, it definitely gets a more modern look.

The 2023 Lexus RX will get six different trim levels. These are Standard, Premium, RX-first Premium+, Luxury, F SPORT Handling, and F SPORT Performance. The Lexus sport utility vehicle will also come in 10 different exterior colors and six different interior colors.

A new head-up display (HUD) is available, plus upgraded navigation and audio. The new Multimedia Touchscreen Display has been upgraded to 14-inches for better visibility. Lexus plans to have the 2023 RX on sale by the end of this year.
