Holy moly, the Chevy Silverado 3500HD must eat nails for breakfast. It’s one tough giant truck that can’t be stopped. The 2023 Chevy Silverado 3500HD just got even more torque to bring more muscle to the table.

We’re still waiting to learn more about the 2023 Chevy Silverado 3500HD, and new clues are starting to emerge. Thanks to a couple of spy shots and catching the new Silverado 3500HD in testing, we know that more power is in the works.

The current generation is powered by a standard 6.6-liter LT8 V8 gas engine with 401 hp and 464 lb-ft of torque. You can upgrade to the 6.6-liter Duramax LP5 V8 diesel engine with 445 hp and 910 lb-ft of torque.

Plus, the automatic six-speed transmission could be replaced by an automatic 10-speed transmission.

These same engines are expected to be carried over for the 2023 model, but they may be enhanced to better meet emission controls, crank out more power, and have better cooling to help increase tow ratings.

Reportedly, the prototypes spotted in testing have up to 1,000 lb-ft of torque. It can currently tow up to 35,000 lbs. But the prototype was caught towing a BigTex 4XGN trailer that could weigh over 40,000 lbs.

What’s new for the Silverado 3500HD?

It’s time for the 2023 Chevy Silverado 3500HD to get an updated look. The exterior is being redesigned to feature new headlights, unique grille designs, revised bumpers, and new taillights.

The current unflattering look with a massive flat grille and thin LED headlights will be replaced by larger lights, a smaller grille design, and a more chiseled bumper. This should provide a more distinct and confident look.

However, due to the amount of camouflage covering the trucks in spy shots, we haven’t been able to get a clear look. The visual upgrades will probably match the revised Chevy Silverado 1500.

The new Silverado 3500HD will have an updated interior design too. Expect plastics and cheaper materials to be replaced by higher-quality items to provide more of an upscale feeling. Pops of genuine wood and soft-touch surfaces could make an appearance.

Tech upgrades may include a massive 13.4-inch touchscreen, a new digital gauge cluster, a larger sunroof, a new wireless phone charging pad, more towing features, and the SuperCruise system.

How much does the 2023 Silverado 3500HD cost?

The starting price for the 2023 Chevy Silverado 3500HD could start around $40,000. However, official pricing hasn’t been released. The current model starts at about $39,700. We wouldn’t be surprised if the price jumps up a little more to cover all the new upgrades.

Perks like the Multi-Flex tailgates and 15 different camera views to simplify towing can’t be ignored. But the current model doesn’t match the amount of power and higher towing capacities that rivals have.

Hopefully, the Silverado 3500HD will provide enough muscle, comfort, and modern tech to take on the competition. We should learn more by the end of the summer, once it arrives for 2023.
