The Chevy Equinox has been around for nearly two decades, but it still receives consistent updates from Chevrolet. The 2023 Equinox has the same redesigned exterior as last year, plus some new interior updates for certain trims. It also sports a new engine, and an electric powertrain option will be available next year.

For years, drivers have also utilized smartphone integration inside the Chevy Equinox. Android Auto is a convenient feature that lets you pair your phone with the car’s infotainment system to access apps and more. Does the refreshed Equinox still have Android Auto?

According to Chevy, the Equinox SUV is available in four trim levels. The cheapest one is the Equinox LS retailing for $27,995 with FWD (every trim can be optioned with AWD for $1,600 extra).

Every Equinox also has the same engine, a turbo-four capable of 175 hp and 203 lb-ft of torque. It’s joined by a six-speed automatic transmission, and it rides on 17-inch wheels. 18-inch aluminum wheels are optional on the LT trim, which costs a minimum of $29,095.

The LT trim has different exterior features, including LED running lights and body-colored accents. You also have more wheel options to choose from and can purchase the available sunroof option.

The Chevy Equinox RS starts at $32,095 and comes with a black-out grille instead of the standard chrome-plated one. This model also differentiates itself from the rest with a roof rack and bright LED taillights. The Chevy Equinox Premium costs $33,195 and comes loaded with every available tech feature.

The 2023 Chevy Equinox has Android Auto

Every 2023 Chevy Equinox comes standard with wireless Android Auto, which is surprising for a car in this price range. Most of its competitors require you to keep your phone connected with a USB cable while using smartphone integration features. Android Auto allows you to answer phone calls, access maps, and use the Google Voice Assistant from your car’s center screen.

Android Central informs us that Google is still working on the Android Auto update it announced last spring. It will have a new split-screen setup so that drivers won’t have to switch back and forth between apps constantly.

All Chevy Equinox models also come with wireless Apple CarPlay, the iPhone equivalent of Android Auto. The standard touchscreen measures 7 in, from which you can control Bluetooth and a Wi-Fi hotspot. The Chevy Equinox includes a Teen Driver mode and some advanced driver’s aids.

The Chevy Equinox LT includes an upgraded multi-color infotainment screen and extra heated interior components. Adaptive cruise control and a surround-view camera are also standard on this model.

The Equinox RS has heated front seats, parking sensors, and dual-zone automatic climate control. An optional package adds a Bose stereo system and navigation, both of which come standard on the Premier. That model also has an 8-in infotainment screen and a few extra safety features.

Chevy says the Equinox EV will have tech options like SuperCruise hands-free driving and a 17.7-in infotainment touchscreen. Additionally, while the Equinox isn’t much of a sporty vehicle, Chevy says that its Ultium battery technology will enhance the EV’s speed.

According to Car and Driver, the Chevy Equinox EV goes on sale in the latter part of 2023. There’s no reason to believe it won’t have wireless Android Auto at its release. As for the ICE Chevy Equinox, you can start building and purchasing your own on Chevy’s website.
