Both the 2022 and 2023 Chevy Equinox have 1.5-liter four-cylinder engines. The 2023 Chevy Equinox makes 175 horses, a measly 5 hp boost from the previous model year.
The popular Toyota RAV4 makes 203 horsepower. The CR-V makes 190 horsepower, and the Hyundai Tucson makes 187 horsepower. So, the Equinox features a new engine, but it’s still underpowered compared to rivals and segment leaders.
The Chevy Equinox also isn’t as fuel-efficient as some of its rivals. The 2023 Equinox model starts at $26,300. It isn’t significantly more affordable than competitors. The Equinox has changed for the 2023 model year, but it isn’t the only small SUV that has learned some new tricks for a new year.
The 2023 Honda CR-V is gunning for the top spot

The new CR-V also comes standard with a larger 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Previous model years came with a 5.0-inch infotainment system. The new model features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity as well.

The CR-V is already popular, but its new upgrades could result in a huge sales bump for the nameplate year over year.

The Hyundai Tucson is considered the best small SUV of 2022 by many experts and automotive publications. It’s been featured at the top of a ranking list compiled by U.S. News & World Report. That being said, the Toyota RAV4 is still America’s best-selling SUV model. The 2022 Honda CR-V comes in a close second.
