The Chevrolet Colorado has long been a favorite among pickup fans. This affordable midsize truck offers many trim levels and options to suit consumer tastes. The 2023 Chevy Colorado offers 5 trim levels

The base model is the Work Truck. It offers a choice between two 2.7-liter turbo engines, making 237 hp or 310 hp, and two-wheel or four-wheel drive. This trim gets an eight-speed automatic transmission and includes Chevy Safety Assist. The starting MSRPs range from $30,695 to $35,415, depending on the engine and drivetrain choices.

Next is the LT, offering the same engine and drivetrain options as the base model. This level also offers keyless entry and remote start. Starting prices range from $33,095 to $37,680, depending on the engine and drivetrain.

The mid-level Trail Boss boasts standard 4WD and a two-inch factory-installed off-road lift. The only engine option is a 2.7-liter turbo that produces 310 hp. This model retails for $38,495.

Starting at $41,395, the fourth trim is the Z71. It also has standard 4WD and includes a 120-volt box-mounted power outlet.

Last, the priciest 2023 Chevy Colorado trim is the ZR2. Chevrolet lists this 4WD model at $48,295 to start. It boasts the most potent engine, a 2.7-liter turbo high-output harnessing 310 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque.

Most buyers are interested in the Z71, according to Edmunds’ “Select a trim” dropdown. This 2023 Chevy Colorado trim has several features that appeal to truck lovers, such as the 120-volt box-mounted power outlet. This three-prong auxiliary household-style outlet is ideal for charging laptops and tools.

Other attractive features include a bedliner with integrated storage compartments. And the StabiliTrak stability control system with Proactive Roll Avoidance and traction control with electronic trailer sway control and hill-start assist can help take the stress out of driving on winding mountain roads. In addition, all-terrain tires make off-roading a breeze.

The Z71’s infotainment features include an 11.3-inch color LCD with built-in Google, Bluetooth, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also has front and rear USB ports and a 12-volt power outlet in the center console.

Safety equipment includes an HD rear-vision camera, lane-keeping assist with lane departure warning, forward collision alerts, and a following distance indicator.

Why do most shoppers pick the Z71?

Most consumers are likely drawn to the many features in the 2023 Colorado Z71 trim. The tech is impressive for a truck, and the 120-volt box-mounted power outlet is a luxury for anyone who goes camping or uses the vehicle for work.

However, the folks at U.S. News think the LT trim is the best 2023 Colorado trim for the price. The LT is significantly cheaper than the Z71 but offers more features and amenities than the Work Truck base model. The LT also has many of the same features that make the Z71 attractive to buyers.

But the experts at MotorTrend agree with consumers and recommend the Z71. MT’s review calls this 2023 Colorado trim the “sweet spot.” Its upscale interior, turbo engine, all-terrain tires, 7,700-pound towing capacity, off-roading chops, and smooth ride on paved roads helped this trim earn MotorTrend’s approval.

So, which 2023 Chevy Colorado trim is right for you? Only you can determine that. But most shoppers pick the Z71.
