Do people buy the most recommended version of the 2022 Chevy Colorado? One trim level is more popular than all the others. Every version of the Chevy midsize pickup is a viable option, but some are better than others. According to a few experts, the best Colorado trim level is not the most popular. Experts don’t recommend the most popular 2022 Chevy Colorado trim.

According to Edmunds, the most popular 2022 Chevy Colorado trim is the Z71 model. For many models, the cheapest version is the one most people buy. However, out of four trim levels, the third is the most popular. What’s so good about the Z71 that people are paying more to get it?

Upgrading to the Colorado Z71 provides customers with big upgrades over the WT and LT models. It’s also the first to gain some off-roading hardware many people value. Starting at $35,995, the Z71 model comes with all-terrain tires, an off-road suspension, a locking rear differential, hill descent control, heated exterior mirrors, unique upholstery, and rear parking sensors.

Experts like Car and Driver and Edmunds disagree on the best 2022 Chevy Colorado trim. With so many different options to choose from including trim levels, engines, cab sizes, bed sizes, and more, it’s no surprise experts can’t agree. While customers love the Z71 trim level the most, neither publication recommends buying it.

Firstly, C/D recommends buying the range-topping ZR2 model. The publication says the midsize truck has a subpar interior quality and lacks modern driver-assist features. Compared with other midsize trucks, it doesn’t stand out much. Therefore, the recommended model is the best because it makes it unique. The jacked-up, wide-bodied ZR2 has spool-valve shocks, electronic locking differentials, and a nicer exterior design. However, it starts at $45,395, far exceeding the lower trims.

Next, Edmunds recommends buying the Colorado LT. One trim level above the base model, this Colorado comes with a host of extras for just a few thousand more, starting at $30,895. Edmunds says it likes the LT because “it offers handy features unavailable on the Work Truck base trim, such as cruise control and a remote locking tailgate, and additional options like automatic climate control, and an 8-inch touchscreen.”

What standard features does a Colorado have?

The most popular and best 2022 Chevy Colorado trims are more expensive than the base model. Each one gains equipment unavailable for the lowest trim. However, they also include everything that comes with the base WT model.

The Chevy Colorado WT base model has air conditioning, cloth upholstery with vinyl floor covering, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, power windows, a tilt-only steering wheel, a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment display, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, two USB ports, and a six-speaker audio system.

Additionally, some more features are available as options for an added cost. These include remote keyless entry, cruise control, EZ lift tailgate, remote locking tailgate, OnStar telematics, and 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot connectivity.

In conclusion, the best 2022 Chevy Colorado trims are the LT or ZR2 models. However, the most popular version of the midsize pickup is the Z71 trim. While the LT trim is more affordable and has some excellent features, the ZR2 optimizes the Colorado. Finding a suitable model can be challenging, which is why experts disagree on which version is the best. Do you think the LT is the best 2022 Chevy Colorado or is spending top-dollar worth it for the off-road ZR2?
