The Toyota Tacoma isn’t the most powerful mid-size pickup truck, but it still does great off-road. The 2022 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro features increased off-roading power, enhancing its terrain-tacklin’ capabilities. The 2022 Toyota Tacoma SR base model uses a 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine that makes a measly 159 horsepower.

The TRD Pro trim comes standard with a 3.6-liter V6 engine that makes 278 horsepower. This is 119 more horsepower than the base model Taco. The TRD Pro brings more horses and more power to drivers. You’ll feel the difference putting your foot down in a 2022 Tacoma TRD Off-Road.

Power is essential to off-roading because the extra giddyup makes all the difference when trying to conquer difficult terrain. Whether crawling, climbing, or even trudging through a standard trail, power means off-road dominance, and the TRD Pro trim has got plenty of it.

Toyota is aware that the Tacoma makes an awesome off-roader, so the company knew it had to make the Tacoma even more capable with the TRD Pro trim. The TRD Pro includes a 1.5-inch lift in the front and a 0.5-inch lift in the rear. The 2022 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro features 16-inch TRD Pro black alloy wheels. It uses Goodyear All-Terrain tires to withstand obstacles.

The 2022 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro features a 1/4-inch-thick aluminum TRD Pro Skid Plate to keep front-end components safe. It also includes machine-forged upper control arms for increased stability.

The Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro looks amazing, but the trim adds practicality as well. Toyota knows how to create a great off-roading truck and has clearly focused on relieving specific pain points for weekend warriors and adventurers. Plenty of automakers are getting in on the off-road trim trend and simply making cosmetic adjustments and adding better tires to vehicles.

The 2022 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro is mechanically better suited for off-roading than other Tacoma trims and even other off-road trims. The TRD Pro gets a suspension upgrade, great tires, and components that increase its stability and ride comfort when dealing with tough terrain.

The new Tacoma TRD Pro truly is a truck fit for the most extreme off-roaders. If its new upgrades aren’t enough to reel you in, the Electric Lime Metallic trim-exclusive body color should do the trick. According to Road Show by CNET, the 2022 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro starts at $47,150 for the manual transmission and $49,855 for the automatic transmission.
