With its beefy 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine, the Ram 1500 TRX easily outmuscles the Ford F-150 Raptor. It doles out 702 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque, compared to 450 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque for the 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 in F-150 Raptor. However, Ford has a V8-powered F-150 Raptor R truck coming soon, so that may level the playing field.

Both trucks can reach a top speed of 118 mph. The TRX boasts a 0-60 mph time of only 4.5 seconds. While Ford didn’t release an acceleration time for the Raptor, it’s likely around one second slower than the TRX. Again, the upcoming Raptor R may change this matchup as well.

Both the Raptor and TRX have excellent suspensions, but the Raptor has a slight edge. Also, the Raptor offers 37-inch tires, while the largest tires that the TRX offers are 35 inches. Additionally, the Raptor has a higher ground clearance than the TRX (13.1 vs. 11.8 inches).

While one wouldn’t expect these high-performance trucks to get good gas mileage, the Raptor has a significant advantage here. It has an estimated fuel economy of up to 15 city/18 highway mpg, compared to only 10 city/14 highway mpg for the TRX.

The F-150 Raptor and Ram 1500 TRX can more than hold their own for off-road excursions. However, the Raptor has the advantage for off-road capabilities over the TRX, especially if opting for the larger 37-inch tires. The higher ground clearance of the Raptor helps as well. Additionally, the Raptor has higher breakover and departure angles than the TRX.

Another strength of the Raptor for off-road use is its suspension, especially with the larger rear coil springs. Also, the Raptor benefits from its gear advantage. It has 10 gears, compared to eight for the TRX.

F-150 Raptor vs. Ram 1500 TRX: Towing and payload capacities

Despite its lower engine output, the F-150 Raptor performs better for towing. It has a towing capacity of 8,200 pounds, compared to 8,100 pounds for the Ram 1500 TRX. The trucks are evenly matched for payload capacity, with 1,400 pounds for the Raptor and 1,404 pounds for the TRX.

F-150 Raptor vs. Ram 1500 TRX: Interior features

With its new Uconnect 5 infotainment system, the Ram 1500 TRX has the advantage for interior features. The new system is fast, has a high memory storage capacity, and offers a wealth of useful features. This includes over-the-air updates, which enable owners of the TRX to update the system with new features as they become available.

The interiors for both trucks are comfortable and have a very high quality. The TRX looks and feels more luxurious, while the Raptor takes things in a sportier direction.

F-150 Raptor vs. Ram 1500 TRX: Price

Pricing information isn’t yet available for the 2022 F-150 Raptor. However, based on the pricing for last year’s model, the 2022 F-150 Raptor should have a lower price than the 2022 Ram 1500 TRX. The base-level price of the 2021 F-150 Raptor is $64,145, compared to $72,390 for the 2022 Ram 1500 TRX.

The price difference is even greater when adding options. A fully-loading 2021 F-150 Raptor costs around $87,000, while a fully loaded 2022 Ram 1500 TRX costs around $97,000. Of course, this could all change once Ford releases the 2022 F-150 Raptor R, which likely will have a higher price.

2022 Ford F-150 Raptor vs. 2022 Ram 1500 TRX: Which truck is better?

The F-150 Raptor has advantages for off-road capabilities, towing, fuel economy, suspension, and price. For the Ram 1500 TRX, advantages include engine performance, acceleration, and interior quality and features. If you place a high priority on acceleration times and engine output, then you’ll want to go with the TRX. However, if you want a truck that has more practical advantages, then the Raptor is a better truck for you.
