The 2022 Ford F-150 vs the 2022 Ram 1500: they’re two of the best (and most popular) pickup trucks you can buy. Yet there are differences, like comfort. Consumer Reports says that the Ford F-150 isn’t nearly as comfortable as the 2022 Ram 1500. Is that enough to make you choose the Ram truck over the F-150? Let’s take a look.

In the battle between the 2022 Ram 1500 vs the 2022 Ford F-150, the Ram comes up on top

If you ask Consumer Reports, there’s really no contest between the 2022 Ram 1500 and 2022 Ford F-150. It is especially impressed by the Ram’s ride as compared to the F-150. While Consumer Reports only gives the 2022 F-150 a 3/5 for its ride, it gives the 2022 Ram a 4/5.

In fact, in its review of the F-150, Consumer Reports writes, “The F-150’s ride is slightly less jittery than before, though still a far cry from the plush comfort the Ram 1500 delivers…” It goes on to say that it’s also behind the 2022 Chevy Silverado and the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500, too. That’s not a great testimony to the Ford truck’s comfort.

The 2022 Ford F-150 is ‘clumsy’

The 2022 Ford F-150 is a big truck – massive, in fact. Consumer Reports points out how difficult it is to get into the F-150, even with the running boards. In addition, it’s “slow” and “fairly clumsy.” Still, the 2022 Ford F-150 is overall very spacious and functional. Ford has redesigned it to be the ultimate work truck, with a foldaway workstation and an updated infotainment system.

On the other hand, “the Ram can satisfy the needs of even the most demanding commercial driver while providing surprising levels of comfort and tranquility.” Perhaps one of the nicest aspects of the Ram’s comfort is that the heated seats and steering wheel come on when you turn on the car remotely in cold weather. That means when you’re coming out to your truck on a frigid winter morning you’ll be able to get right into a warm chair.

The F-150 does have one really nice thing going for it

The 2022 Ford F-150 is extremely quiet according to Consumer Reports. In the road test report of the 2022 F-150, Consumer Reports notes that the F-150 “interior rivals luxury cars in terms of quietness.” It also says that the “cabin is quiet enough to shame some luxury cars. There’s very little road noise and only some minor wind rustling from the big side mirrors at highway speeds. The XLT’s 2.7-liter turbo V6 delivers a smooth, carlike hum, though some might miss the muscular V8 growl found in competitor trucks.”

It’s not easy to decide between the 2022 Ram 1500 vs the 2022 Ford F-150. It is worth noting that Consumer Reports ranks the 2022 Ram 1500 first out of pickup trucks and the 2022 Ford F-150 number two. If that’s not enough of a difference to help you decide between these two popular pickup trucks, perhaps you’ll let comfort be the deciding factor.
