There’s a reason why the Ford Mustang is still around while other cars like the Fusion, Escape, and Taurus have been phased out. It’s massively popular and even inspired the electric Mustang Mach-E. Sadly, the Mustang’s run is coming to an end, but Ford is giving it a solid farewell. The 2024 Mustang Dark Horse is part of the final generation, which is expected to last around eight years. Ford has really cranked up the volume on the powertrain, and the 2024 Mustang Dark Horse is getting attention for all the right reasons.

The 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse powertrain is impressive

Ford is very proud of its new 5.0-liter Coyote V8 engine. This powerful engine can generate 500 hp and 418 lb-ft of torque. This is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, as well as rear-wheel drive. There is also a six-speed manual. The drive modes include Normal, Sport, and Track. It should come as no surprise that this is the most powerful, naturally aspirated Mustang in Ford’s lineup.

Car and Driver took the new 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse for a spin around the track and were pleased to report that it could hit 60 mph in just 4.1 seconds. It was also able to reach speeds of 115 MPH in just 12.5 seconds. The review site went on to report that the Mustang Dark Horse was going over 100 MPH in under two laps on the track, and it takes 9.7 seconds to hit 100 MPH.

You can turn on the engine sound with the push of a button

Loud, powerful engine sounds aren’t for everyone. With the rise of electric vehicles, many drivers prefer a vehicle that is silent.

Then there are muscle car enthusiasts who love the revs and purrs of a powerful engine. It brings them pleasure, and no EV is ever going to make them happy.

Sometimes it’s nice to show off your powerful engine, and Ford has taken this into consideration. The American company has actually added a feature to help you wow your friends and family.

All you need to do in order to let your 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse roar is hit a button on your key fob. You don’t even need to be inside the vehicle to operate it. It’s a unique but fun feature that makes the Mustang Dark Horse stand out just a little more.

The performance brakes are a nice touch

Apex-taming brakes allow you to stop quickly. Ford reports the Dark Horse has massive, track-ready tires. This is thanks in large part to a Brembo brake system.

Ford once again goes above and beyond by adding a splash of color to the brake calipers. They are black, and a white Brembo logo makes the calipers really pop.

Car and Driver tested the braking system while on the track, and the results were impressive. It takes 142 feet to stop a 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse that is going 70 MPH. If the vehicle is going 100 MPH, then it will take around 278 feet to stop.

The 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse starts at $57,970, and the Mustang Dark Horse Premium is $63,265.

Given that this is the last generation of Mustang, this is not a car to pass up if you can afford it. The performance package is incredible, and the sentimental value will only make it more attractive as the years go by. Hopefully, if the 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse sells well enough, it will make Ford reconsider the decision to scrap it in eight years. Even if Ford does end the Mustang, then this is a fierce end worthy of a Ford legend.
