A tow truck driver has a difficult job. They respond to crashes, help stranded motorists, and repossess vehicles. However, a truck driver isn’t likely to chase a motorist around a parking lot in reverse to acquire their car. Unfortunately, nobody told this guy.

A tow truck driver failed to collect a Honda sedan from a parking lot, but not before a reckless pursuit in reverse

Safety be damned. That has to be what this tow truck driver was thinking. The driver approached a white Honda sedan, positioning his truck ahead of the stationary vehicle. After stopping in front of the sedan, he reversed toward the Honda. However, the Honda’s driver was nearby and jumped into the car. The chase was on.

Now let’s get something straight here. Tow truck drivers aren’t cops. As such, they don’t have the authority to chase anyone in their rig for any reason. Be that as it may, this driver felt compelled to chase the woman behind the wheel of the Honda. Both vehicles drove a short distance in reverse, weaving around parked SUVs, sedans, pickup trucks, and a stationary BMW Z4.

Humorously, viewers can hear the person behind the camera shouting encouragement to the runaway driver. “Go, go, go, go!” She must have heard the cheering because she led the truck on a short rear-facing chase. The Honda then came to a stop just before striking a small tree, shifted into drive, and evaded the truck through the parking lot. We have to wonder what the truck driver’s plan was. After all, towing a vehicle with someone inside is a safety and liability issue.

The popular commentary supports the likelihood of a failed repossession attempt. However, while many commenters supported the reckless actions of the tow truck driver, not everyone was on his side. “100% illegal. Illegal to tow a car with someone in it,” one viewer responded. Another commented, “That is so dangerous and irresponsible of that tow truck driver. He should lose his business license or be fired if he works for a company. That is ridiculous.”

On the other hand, a viewer said “Clowns acting like he won’t get the car in the middle of the night or tomorrow.” Frankly, the keyboard expert isn’t wrong. Repossession efforts don’t stop simply because a driver gave a repo man the slip. Questionable decision-making on the tow truck driver’s part aside, these actions simply aren’t something we can condone.
