A new automotive world is emerging as an untamed and intriguing addition to the market. Electric cars are becoming more popular, and more automakers than ever add EVs to their lineup. If you’re looking for a car, not an SUV, with the highest expert ratings, one model may stand out ahead of the rest.

Which electric car is the top choice of three experts?

As you can see from these lists, the Chevrolet Bolt EV occupies the top spot on three of the lists. Strangely, Car and Driver doesn’t list the Bolt EV, which could be a model year deletion because the Bolt EV is skipping the 2024 model year. This small electric car returns with a new Ultium battery platform, which should give it more power and driving range than the previous model.

Why is the 2023 Chevrolet Bolt EV rated at the top of three lists?

The Bolt EV is the first affordable electric vehicle, proving driving an EV doesn’t have to cost too much. This little car might not have the power and capability of a pickup truck, but its generous 259-mile driving range and peppy powertrain make it good for highway and city driving.

Some of the pros and cons of this small Chevy EV are:

Pros

  • Peppy powertrain
  • Playful driving dynamics
  • Superb all-electric range
  • Large cargo capacity for the class

Cons

  • Firm ride

Initially, Chevy planned to delete the Bolt EV from the market, which meant no new items for the 2023 model, save for a lower price. This little electric car is the most affordable long-range EV offered, especially once the Federal EV Tax Credit is applied.

What makes the Bolt EV easy to love?

With good acceleration, an impressive driving range, and decent efficiency, the 2023 Chevy Bolt EV is one of the best options in the entire class. US News named the Bolt the 2023 Best Electric Car for the Money, which adds a little more weight to the already substantial support for this little Chevy electric car.
