Most people don’t realize it, but tow truck drivers are essential to communities nationwide. Sure, some may dislike them because of the enforcement of parking rules, but these drivers are essential. Not only do they help move cars after wrecks, but they can also come in handy for people who may be stranded. However, one tow truck operator in Wyoming recently got into a proverbial pickle when he made a mistake and woke up to his vehicle on a cliff.

Even tow truck drivers can make mistakes

As mentioned, we rely on tow truck drivers to help in all sorts of precarious situations. Still, it doesn’t exempt them from needing that same aid. According to Cowboy State Daily, a driver from Bighorn Basin Towing in Cody, Wyoming, recently got his truck stuck on a cliff. Of course, the first thoughts that come to mind upon hearing this are, “How on earth does this happen? Is the man okay?”

First, yes, the tow truck driver in question is perfectly fine. The report says that the man, who is also one of the co-owners of the business, was a bit under the weather when this all started. The man returned to his home in Wapiti and parked his 1997 F-250. He then went inside to get some sleep. He said, “When I woke up at 4 a.m., we had crazy winds. Over 70 mph gusts. I looked outside my window, and my truck was gone.”

The tow truck driver didn’t assume theft. Sometime after the sun came up, he went to investigate and saw the Ford on the side of a cliff. What he believes is that he forgot to put the vehicle in park despite putting on the e-brake. Notably, this is also one of the company’s most-used trucks, so they desperately want to retrieve it from the cliff. It’s pretty badly damaged, but they hope to restore it. They’ve tried a few methods, but the company now plans to use a bulldozer.
