A brand-new electric SUV is coming to America! Welcome the VinFast VF 3 to our shores. The tiny electric SUV is straight from Vietnam with a lackluster range and an attractive price point. Check out what to expect with the VinFast VF 3.

What is the Vinfast VF 3?

The VinFast VF 3 is a pint-sized electric SUV or a mini-eSUV from Vietnam. It has two doors and is 125.6 inches long, making it smaller than the adorable Suzuki Jimny.

It rides on 16-inch wheels and has up to 194 cubic feet of cargo space. It seats up to four passengers, but we’re assuming that shorter folks need to squeeze into the rear.

While this little SUV has an attractive style, it doesn’t look fit for off-roading challenges or longer trips. VinFast is aiming for it to have a 125-mile range, which is solid for daily commutes and errands around town. Also, its compact size makes it convenient for city life.

It may not seem practical at first, but VinFast spoke with dealers about offering this SUV for under $20,000, and that generated tons of interest.

Plus, VinFast is building a factory in America, so the VF 3 could be built on our soil. This would allow it to get around the 25% chicken tax and provide better pricing. Maybe it will qualify for the $7,500 Federal tax credit too.

The Ford Maverick starts at $23,815, so people could save thousands with the VF 3 instead. However, the Maverick does off a truck bed and can tow up to 4,000 lbs.

Other options that currently start under $20,000 include the Kia Rio, Mitsubishi Mirage, and Nissan Versa. If the VF 3 has a better ride quality and more upscale interior then it could easily crush these rivals.

We know that it starts with a 10.0-inch infotainment screen and wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. The rear seats fold flat too.

Also, VinFast could provide the first affordable EV in America. This is something Tesla and Hyundai have been trying to accomplish for years.

But we don’t know how much power the VF 3 has to offer or how quickly it charges. It’s still a big mystery, so stay tuned for updates.
