Can the Ram 1500 continue its reign? It’s been ranked as the best full-size pickup truck since it was redesigned in 2019. Can it keep the momentum going? The 2023 Ram 1500 will try to remain on top with a mid-cycle refresh.

2023 Ram 1500: What’s new?

The 2023 Ram 1500 should feature updated looks and performance improvements. The interior, tech, and powertrain options could be updated as well. Hopefully, we will see the new Ram 1500 before the end of the year.

As far as looks go, we aren’t sure what direction Stellantis will take. The refreshed Ram 1500 probably will look like a more traditional truck compared to the futuristic-looking 2024 Ram 1500 EV

It’s safe to expect a new headlight design with updated LEDs and new daytime running lights. Also, there could be a few new grille designs in the works. According to Pickup Truck Talk, the grille could get larger for a more prominent look.

The sides of the truck will probably remain the same, but the taillights and bumpers could be revised. New paint colors and a couple of fresh wheel designs may complete the look.

How much power will the 2023 Ram truck have?

It’s currently unclear if the 2023 Ram 1500 will have more power. But we have our eyes on the new Stellantis Hurricane engines. They cut emissions, increase the fuel economy, and have more power. But they could only be for massive Jeep SUVs, like the Wagoneer.

The 3.0-liter inline-six twin-turbo Standard Output engine provides 400 hp and 450 lb-ft of torque. The High Output unit provides 500 hp and 475 lb-ft of torque. It’s optimized to give an excellent performance and fuel economy while towing.

This makes us wonder if the refreshed Ram 1500 will have more muscle. The current model can tow up to 12,750 lbs and carry a payload of up to 2,325 lbs. Meanwhile, the 2022 Ford F-150 can tow up to 14,000 lbs and carry a payload of up to 3,250 lbs.

Ram offers a 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine with 260 hp and 480 lb-ft of torque. It offers the best-in-class torque, and we don’t think it will bite the dust yet.

It’s possible that the Ram 1500 will get new towing tech, such as more camera views or the ability to steer itself into a parking spot.

How much will the 2023 Ram cost?

The 2023 Ram 1500 could start at around $37,000 to cover the new upgrades. The 2022 model currently starts at about $35,000. This is a little pricey compared to the Ford F-150, which begins at about $30,495.

The interior could be revised to include even more high-quality materials and convenient features such as massaging seats. While Ram had the first massive touchscreen infotainment system, rivals have already caught up.

While a 5-inch screen is standard, you can upgrade to the 8.4-inch screen or the 12-inch screen. The 5-inch option could be dropped or replaced by larger units. We would enjoy the addition of wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

We can wait to see the 2023 Ram 1500. Despite topping the charts as a favorite among critics, the Ford F-150 still sells more units. Perhaps the new model will finally be able to take the F-150 out.
