Here at MotorBiscuit, we’re no strangers to special-edition Honda sports cars selling for exuberant amounts of money. Recently, we covered a super-rare Mugen Honda Civic Si that sold on Bring A Trailer. That car’s $40,000 sale price was indeed impressive, but this Honda S2000 CR just made that price look punitive. Let’s take a look!

The Honda S2000 CR isn’t your run-of-the-mill roadster

The headline is no joke; this Honda S2000 CR just sold on Cars and Bids for $96,000. However, it is worth noting that the Honda S2000 CR (Club Racer) is a special model. In fact, we’ve covered the CR in the past and even made the recommendation that you buy one. Unfortunately, it’s looking like you missed the boat on buying one for a reasonable price. Sorry!

It goes a bit further than it being the most hardcore track-oriented version of an already phenomenal sports car. This particular example has only 15,200 miles on the odometer. Furthermore, the original owner listed it on Cars and Bids. To top all that off, the owner optioned it with no AC or Radio for ultimate weight savings. This spec is extremely rare and, yes, resulted in someone paying $96,000 for a car with no air conditioning.

Being that the seller is the original owner, there are plenty of cool little tidbits that come with this car. The original dealership paperwork, owner’s manual, and even the elusive factory hard top all came with the car.

$96,000 is a lot, but it’s not the most someone has paid for a CR

Only 699 of these cars ever sold in the U.S., according to Cars and Bids. So, it was fairly predictable that they’d someday be worth lots of money. Could anyone have predicted this level of insanity for pricing, though?

Back in October 2022, another yellow Honda S2000 CR with 8,000 original miles sold for an eye-watering $131,000 on Bring A Trailer. If you think that’s nuts, diving down further shows at least half a dozen that have sold for over $100,000.

The kingpin, though, is one that had only 123 miles on the odometer. Yes, seriously. Someone owned a car for over a decade and only put 123 miles on it. As a result, it sold for $200,000.

Don’t get too discouraged if you dream of owning an S2000 CR, though. That is unless you want one with very few miles. On the contrary, though, an Apex Blue Pearl S2000 CR with 128,000 miles on the odometer sold for $46,500. It’s still not cheap, but it’s a whole lot cheaper.
