The 2020 Hyundai Palisade stands on solid ground. It’s a well-rounded and affordable family SUV with three rows. But there is one feature this appealing Hyundai offering to the large crossover SUV segment lacks.

The Kia Telluride, the Toyota Tundra and Sequoia, and countless others already have a factory version of the blacked out family vehicle. It’s edgy and stylish. It says “sure, I’ve got a family. But I’m still awesome.” Even minivans like the Chrysler Pacifica have some sort of black edition. Same with family cars like the Toyota Camry.

It’s clearly a trend and one that we aren’t mad about. But what about the Hyundai Palisade SUV? Does it have a black edition?

What colors does the Palisade come in?

The 2020 Hyundai Palisade is available with seven color options, according to Coastal Hyundai. They are all your pretty standard burgundy, dark blue, shades of gray, with a white and black option. Of course, they all have car color names. The white is called White Cream, while the black goes by Becketts Black.

There are also Sierra Burgundy and Moonlight Cloud. Then you get a trifold spectrum of silvery grays that go by the names Steel Graphite, Lagoon Silver, and Forest Rain. Among all of these color options, however, there isn’t a blackout package.

There’s no goth-lover’s dream factory black edition with black wheels lugnuts, trims details, or skid plates. It’s interesting that the 2020 Hyundai Palisade lacks this, as it’s extremely popular right now. Plus, its corporate counterpart the Kia Telluride offers an excellent version that could easily be the one reason some buyers will choose the 2021 Telluride instead of a Hyundai Palisade SUV.

The Kia Telluride Nightfall Edition

Critics tout the all-black style of the Kia Telluride Nightfall Edition. It’s a great way to help families feel cool rolling from school to practice, to the library and Grandma’s house. Car and Driver says they are “intrigued by the way it looks.”

The Nightfall Edition for the 2021 Kia Telluride is available for the Telluride EX AWD with the Premium package. It’s also available as an addition to the SX AWD and the SX Prestige trims. The black on black upgrade on the Telluride has a price tag of $1,295. So what gives, Hyundai?

It’s not as if the Hyundai Palisade doesn’t have good looks. It’s also a spacious three-row family sized SUV with a nice list of creature comforts. According to Hyundai USA, this Hyundai Palisade SUV starts at $31,975. In addition, it’s a comfortable city driver with the option of AWD.

It’s classy, capable, and well thought out. Then you have the excellent Hyundai factory warranty and up to 26 miles per gallon on the highway to add to the list. The 2020 Hyundai Palisade isn’t hard to love. Unless you want an all-black family SUV straight off the lot. For that feature, you’ll have to look elsewhere.

Will we see it for 2021?

So far, we haven’t seen or heard that a black on black Hyundai Palisade is in the cards for 2021. However, there is a chance one will roll out as more cars, crossovers, SUVs, and pickup trucks gain the feature. So while we may not see one for the 2021 model, a black package for the Palisade could be on the horizon.
