The 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid Proves a Few Inches Makes All the Difference
A new Toyota SUV hits the market and could be the new sheriff in town. The 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander has three trim levels, starts at the upscale XLE trim, and is larger than the traditional Highlander. Equipped with the Hybrid Max powertrain, the Grand Highlander Hybrid shows off impressive performance, comfort, and cargo room.
How much power does the 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid produce?
This new Toyota SUV has three powertrains to give drivers excellent power during every drive. These powertrains are:
- 2.4-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine/8-speed automatic transmission
- 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine plus two electric motors/eCVT
- 2.4-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine plus one electric motor/6-speed automatic transmission (Hybrid Max)
The Hybrid Max powertrain is the most powerful, delivering 362 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque to all four wheels. With this powertrain, the Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid can tow up to 6,00 pounds and reach 60 mph in a little more than six seconds.
The greatest benefit of the Hybrid Max powertrain is availability. It is available for all three Grand Highlander trims: XLE, Limited, and Platinum.
Where do a few inches make the difference?
The new Grand Highlander is 6.5 inches longer than the traditional Highlander. It’s also wider and taller than the traditional model, providing more space and size in the passenger and cargo area than what’s found in the regular Highlander.
The Grand Highlander has 33.5 inches of legroom in the third row, which is 5.5 inches more than the traditional Highlander midsize SUV. This means adults can easily fit in this row and feel much more comfortable than in the previous model.
In addition to the extra legroom in the third row, this new Toyota Grand Highlander can be configured with a bench seat in the middle. This change provides enough seating for eight people. This bench seat isn’t available for the top Platinum trim.
The cargo space offered in the larger SUV is greater than the traditional Toyota model. The Grand Highlander has 20.6 cubic feet behind the third row and 97.5 cubic feet with the rear two rows of seats folded. This is 4.6 cubic feet and 13.2 cubic feet more than the regular Highlander, respectively.
What else makes the 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid better?
Because this new, larger Toyota midsize SUV starts at a higher trim position than the traditional model, it’s equipped with better materials and a much more upscale feel. The Platinum trim has Ultrasuede leather upholstery finished in black, light gray, or Portobello brown. You’ll also find 13 cupholders, several storage cubbies, and larger door pockets for your smaller items.
