The 2021 Lincoln Aviator is expensive. Priced just over $50,000, this luxury SUV isn’t fooling anybody. But how does it stack up when compared to a more modestly priced competitor? Say, the 2021 Cadillac XT6. Well, unfortunately for the XT6, this year’s new Lincoln Aviator is more than able to justify its high price tag.

The 2021 Lincoln Aviator is a luxe family hauler

The 2021 Lincoln Aviator is no stranger to the finer things in life. It’s practically enveloped in luxury. No, it is enveloped in luxury. Really, slip behind the wheel of this seven-passenger, three-row SUV, and you’ll be pleased to find that not a single compromise was made when it came to crafting this year’s Aviator.

Treat yourself to the Lincoln Aviator Black Label, and this family hauler becomes genuinely irresistible. Choose from a curated collection of interior designer themes that use nothing but the finest of materials. Enjoy an endless number of membership privileges too, including premium maintenance service with Lincoln Pickup & Delivery, complimentary anytime car washes, and access to Lincoln’s exclusive Culinary Collection.

The 2021 Cadillac XT6 offers responsive handling

The 2021 Cadillac XT6 is meant to fill the gap between the Cadillac XT5 and the Escalade. And with seating for seven, there’s no denying that this Cadillac SUV is spacious. Consider that this year’s model comes standard with heated front seats and a rear power liftgate, and the 2021 Cadillac XT6 does present itself as a worthwhile option among its segment.

According to Kelley Blue Book, the Cadillac XT6 is more than a spacious SUV. It’s also easy to maneuver and offers up both a “composed ride and responsive handling.” Though, Kelley Blue Book did add that its 237-hp base engine isn’t very powerful.

Why the Cadillac XT6 comes up short

There are a few reasons that the 2021 Lincoln Aviator makes for a better pick than its Cadillac competition. When it comes to what’s under the hood of these SUVs, the Lincoln Aviator is the clear winner. Unlike the Cadillac XT6, which comes powered by a 327-hp engine, this year’s Aviator is driven by a 400-hp 3.0-liter turbo V6 engine.

The 2021 Lincoln Aviator isn’t just more powerful than the Cadillac XT6. While the XT6 certainly offers plenty of interior space, it’s not quite as spacious as the Aviator, which offers more headspace for front and second-row passengers. It provides more legroom for front and second-row passengers too.

Unlike the XT6, the 2021 Lincoln Aviator is stocked with tech features. Though the XT6 offers things like Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, it doesn’t offer tech-savvy features like Lincoln Connect, which allows you and your passengers to access a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot within the vehicle pretty easily.

The 2021 Lincoln Aviator does cost more

The 2021 Lincoln Aviator is more expensive than the Cadillac XT6. While the XT6 is priced at $47,995, the Aviator starts at $51,100. Climb the ranks into a more lavishly appointed trim level, particularly the Lincoln Aviator Black Label, and that price jumps pretty significantly.

In the end, its high price is well worth it

Yes, the 2021 Lincoln Aviator is more expensive than the Cadillac XT6. But is its higher price tag justifiable? In the end, it really is. Choose the 2021 Lincoln Aviator over the Cadillac XT6, and you’ll be plenty happy that you did.
