Apple TV+’s smash hit “Ted Lasso” is many things to many people, but it’s not a car show. It’s a feel-good journey through the turmoil of personal discovery, community building, and the healing process. It’s a silly showcase of Jason Sudeikis and co-stars’ comedic and dramatic talents. What you don’t expect, though, is it to be a veritable feast of fantastic cars throughout the story. Still, the cars of “Ted Lasso” aren’t just fun to look at; they’re pinpoint-accurate casting choices that complement their owners and drivers, like Nathan Shelley’s Aston Martin DB11 and Trent Crimm’s Mercedes-Benz SL.

The cars of ‘Ted Lasso’ are cast as well as the characters themselves. Each car not only fits the scene aesthetically but complements its driver with stunning precision. Here are a few of our favorite rides from the show:

  • Aston Martin DB11
  • Lamborghini Huracán Peformante
  • Noble M600
  • Ferrari 458 Spider
  • Rolls-Royce Phantom
  • Mercedes-Benz SL (R107)
  • Austin Mini

An Austin Mini and an Aston Martin DB11 don’t have many things in common. However, the show’s writers used them as illustrative features for Nick Mohammed’s character, Nathan Shelley, and his fall from grace. The effortlessly charming and non-threatening classic Mini fit the character well when he was on the right side of Richmond’s football efforts. However, after Shelley burned his bridges and headed for West Ham, a black-clad Shelley got behind the wheel of a breathtakingly beautiful Aston Martin DB11, a fabulously opulent grand tourer

However, even with a steady diet of world-class supercars like insecure footballer Colin Hughes’ Lamborghini Huracán Peformante, some cars and characters fit so well they deserve accolades. The pairing of James Lance’s character, calculated albeit sometimes awkward journalist Trent Crimm, with a classically cool R107 Mercedes-Benz SL is a match made in heaven. More specifically, the SL is an elegant representation of the company’s classic coupes and roadster chops, a fitting ride for an intellectual, if also borderline snobby, character like Crimm.

What kind of car does Rebecca Welton drive?

In yet another example of a fitting character-to-car matchup, AFC Richmond owner and tall power-personality Rebecca Welton rides about in a Rolls-Royce Phantom. Of course, Welton doesn’t drive herself; a chauffeur takes her around in the commanding British luxury car.

What’s the best car in ‘Ted Lasso?’

The best car in “Ted Lasso” is purely subjective. However, we have a soft spot for Trent Crimm’s Mercedes-Benz SL and his propensity for locking the classic Mercedes keys in the car’s cabin. Still, there’s no shortage of spectacular rides in the show.

While coveting a car might not be very Ted Lasso-ian, the footballers’ cars are dream-worthy. Keep up with MotorBiscuit for the latest content covering everything automotive!
