Not all SUVs are created equal, especially when it comes to those with three rows. These roomy midsize SUVs have higher-than-average legroom and cargo space in the back. Kia and Hyundai make the top three most spacious sport utility vehicles for 2023, but that isn’t all the cars have to offer.

You can’t have roomy midsize SUVs without the 2023 Kia Telluride

When U.S. News gathered some roomy midsize SUVs, the 2023 Kia Telluride had all the space. The good news is that the Telluride is one of the best all-around SUVs with extra space. It offers excellent value for the money, plenty of standard features, and ample cargo space for everyone’s things. Buyers can opt for seven seats with captain’s chairs in the second row or eight with a regular bench seat in the second row. The second-row legroom is 42.4 inches, and the space behind the seats is 46 cubic feet.

Kia added forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, stop-and-go adaptive cruise control, and rear cross-traffic alert as standard systems. Safe exit assist helps warn people of vehicles driving before a door is opened, and the rear-seat alert reminds you to check the backseat.

The NHTSA gave the 2023 Kia Telluride some five-star safety ratings but has not given it an overall score yet, nor has the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

Another roomy midsize SUV for 2023 is the Hyundai Palisade

The 2023 Hyundai Palisade is a top-rated midsize SUV with extra space for people and things. It received a refresh for this year but retained all the space and technology buyers are looking for. With three rows of seats, buyers can opt for captain’s chairs in the second row. That does bring the passenger count down from eight to seven, though.

For second-row legroom, the Palisade has 42.4 inches and 45.8 cubic feet of space in the back. This roomy midsize SUV has various advanced safety features, including forward-collision warning, lane-keeping assist, and automatic emergency braking. Higher trim levels offer even more advanced safety features, such as blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and a surround-view camera system.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration hasn’t thoroughly tested the 2023 Palisade, but it did give the SUV five out of five stars in the front crash test and four stars in the rollover test. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has awarded the Palisade its Top Safety Pick award regularly over the last few years but hasn’t tested the 2023 version yet.

If the Telluride isn’t your style, the 2023 Kia Sorento has many of the same features. The Sorento has 41.7 inches of second-row legroom and 38.5 cubic feet behind the second row. On top of that, Kia’s Sorento can seat up to seven passengers. Two engine choices make the SUV more versatile as well.

For 2023, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and safe exit assist come standard on all trim levels. Forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning with lane-keep assist, and automatic high-beam headlights are also standard.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave the 2023 Sorento a four-star overall safety rating. On top of that, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave the Kia SUV its Top Safety Pick award.

While this list of roomy midsize SUVs isn’t long, it does have the top three vehicles with the most space for 2023. Kia and Hyundai aren’t new to having solid cars in the lineup, but these spacious midsize SUVs don’t skip on features or room.
