The 2022 Ford Expedition is the safest huge 3-row SUV

The 2022 Ford Expedition has a perfect overall safety rating from the NHTSA, getting five out of five stars. This includes five stars for its overall front rating, front driver side, and front passenger side. Both the front and rear seats also get five stars for the combined side barrier and pole ratings.

In addition, the side barrier rating is five stars, with the driver and rear passenger getting five star ratings each. The overall side pole rating is also five stars. In fact, the only rating that isn’t perfect is the rollover rating. The 2022 Ford Expedition gets four stars for its rollover rating, though this is pretty typical for large SUVs.

Three other SUVs don’t live up to the Expedition’s standards

Other full-size SUVs rated by the NHTSA don’t match the 2022 Ford Expedition in terms of safety. The 2022 Chevy Suburban and 2022 Cadillac Escalade only have four overall stars, as well as four stars for the overall front star rating and the front passenger side crash test rating. In addition, the rollover rating for the Suburban and Escalade is only three stars. The 2022 GMC Yukon also has just four overall stars, as well as three stars for rollover.

The 2022 Nissan Armada fares even worse, getting just three stars for its overall rating. Overall, the Nissan Armada has just one rating, three stars for its rollover rating. Its mechanical twin, the 2022 Infiniti QX80 shares the same rating as the 2022 Nissan Armada.

Other three-row SUVs haven’t been rated yet

There are other full-size three-row SUVs that don’t have safety ratings from the NHTSA yet. The 2022 Lincoln Navigator is one of these sport utility vehicles. While it has five stars for its side crash rating and four stars for its rollover rating, its front ratings haven’t been completed and therefore, there is no overall rating yet.

The 2022 Toyota Sequoia hasn’t been rated. It only has a rollover rating of four stars. In addition, both the 2022 Jeep Wagoneer and the 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer also haven’t been rated yet by the NHTSA. Neither has the 2022 Lexus LX.

If you want one of the best and safest full-size three-row SUVs out there, your best bet is the 2022 Ford Expedition. The Expedition has the best ratings from the NHTSA and it has plenty of room and versatility to be a great sport utility vehicle for families.
