The Polestar 2 is a somewhat affordable sedan, and it’s soon to be joined by the larger, more expensive Polestar 3 SUV. So, how do these EVs compare? Let’s look at the specs.

Powertrain specs for the Polestar 2 and Polestar 3

Polestar 2 and Polestar 3 powertrains come in varying configurations for the right blend of performance and efficiency. Here are the details.

Polestar 2 buyers can choose from three powertrain options: Long Range Single Motor, Long Range Dual Motor, and Long Range Dual Motor with Performance Pack.

With the Long Range Single Motor option, the Polestar 2 offers classic RWD dynamics, rapid acceleration, and commendable range. The rear-mounted electric motor makes 299 hp and 361 lb-ft of torque, propelling the sporty sedan to 60 mph in 5.9 seconds.

Moving up to the Long Range Dual Motor Polestar adds AWD versatility and increased power. Dual electric motors churn out 421 hp and 546 lb-ft of torque. 60 mph arrives in 4.3 seconds.

And for track-ready dynamics, there’s the Polestar 2 Long Range Dual Motor with Performance Pack. Producing 455 hp and 546 lb-ft of torque, it rockets to 60 mph in only 4.1 seconds.

The Polestar 3 comes in a dual motor, all-wheel drive setup, no matter the configuration. Buyers can pick from the Long Range Dual Motor or the Long Range Dual Motor with Performance Pack.

The Polestar 3 Long Range Dual Motor makes 489 hp and 620 lb-ft of torque and sprints to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds.

Opting for the Polestar 3 Long Range Dual Motor with Performance Pack brings 517 hp and 671 lb-ft of torque and impressive acceleration of 0-60 in 4.6 seconds.

Polestar 2 vs. Polestar 3: interior space

Drivers have varying needs when it comes to interior space. While some might normally travel alone with little gear, others could have a family and plenty to pack. And though the Polestar 2 has sufficient room, the Polestar 3 has abundant storage.

The Polestar 2 has a wheelbase of 107.7 inches and a width of 73.2 inches. Four doors make for easy ingress/egress, and there’s seating for five. The rear storage area holds 16.7 cubic feet with the seats folded down.

The Polestar 3 builds on those specs with a 117.5-inch wheelbase and a 77.5-inch width. Naturally, that makes for a more roomy interior. While seating remains at five, rear storage space increases to 50 cubic feet when folding the seats.

Which Polestar has the best range?

The Polestar 2 and Polestar 3 have convenient charge times and solid range, no matter the powertrain.

The Polestar 2 Long Range Single Motor has a range of 320 miles and can DC fast charge from 10 to 80 percent in 28 minutes. In Long Range Dual Motor configuration, those specs change to 276 miles and 34 minutes, respectively. Adding the Performance Pack brings a range of 247 miles and a 10 to 80 percent DC fast charge time of 34 minutes.

The Polestar 3 Long Range Dual Motor can go 300 miles between charges, while the Performance Pack version can reach 270 miles. Both models can DC fast charge from 10 to 80 percent in 30 minutes.

Polestar 2 vs. Polestar 3: pricing and warranty

The Polestar 2 lets drivers get behind the wheel at a somewhat reasonable price. But the Polestar 3 edges into upscale luxury car MSRPs at more than $80,000. At the same time, both vehicles have a reassuring warranty.
