GM recently revealed Silverado electric truck at the Consumer Electronics Show in January, presenting three trims on the stage. This presentation might have been all it took to give reservation holders the confidence this truck could offer their desired drive. Not only will 95% of owners use this truck for daily driving, but 87% also say it’s an all-electric truck that meets their truck needs. These respondents are referring to the towing and trailering ability of this truck.

In addition to the responses that show confidence in the truck ability of the Chevy Silverado EV, 72% of survey respondents feel confident this truck can handle the off-road challenges of some rugged trails and want it for their off-roading fun. These responses could have a lot to do with GM putting a Trail Boss trim on the stage in Las Vegas.

What do we expect in the Chevrolet Silverado EV truck?

The Silverado EV uses the same Ultium battery platform used for the GMC Hummer EV and Cadillac Lyriq. This electric power system allows this truck to deliver up to 400 miles of driving on a single charge, which is more than the Ford F-150 Lightning.

Towing capacity for the Chevy EV truck initially offers 8,000 pounds for the WT model and 10,000 pounds for the RST trim. Chevrolet promises a version that will bring 20,000 pounds of towing to the EV truck market soon after the initial release.

Chevrolet set the starting price for the WT model at $39,900, while the RST trim begins at $105,000. This wide price range leaves plenty of room for other trims to enter the lineup. The Trail Boss version falls somewhere between these two trims.

What makes the RST trim so special that it costs a lot more?

The RST trim of the Chevrolet Silverado EV is the top trim offered, giving owners more power at 664 horsepower compared to 510 for the WT version. This trim also offers:

  • 17-inch infotainment screen
  • 11-inch digital instrument display
  • 14-inch head-up display
  • Standard Multi-Flex Tailgate

We will offer additional details as they come available.

How much does it cost to reserve a Silverado EV?

It only costs a $100 deposit to be one of the reservation holders for the new Chevrolet Silverado EV. This reservation is refundable and can be canceled at any time. This no-commitment process could be a big reason why the Silverado EV already has more than 140,000 reservations between both fleet and retail customers.

When can you buy a Silverado EV?

Expect reservations to be filled first, but this truck is part of the 2024 model year and will be available in the spring of 2023. Both the WT and RST trims will be launched in the spring. The Trail Boss model follows later in the year.
