Just about every auto brand has a midsize SUV in their lineup. The reason why? Midsize SUVs happen to be the biggest selling segment in the auto industry, and for good reasons. They offer lots of cargo and passenger room and come equipped with many standard convenience features. Plus, some feature multiple engine and powertrain options depending on your driving needs. The best midsize SUV of 2022 is a coveted title, and there are many in the running.

Based on research conducted by Consumer Guide, there isn’t one American midsize SUV that earned a ‘Best Buy’ badge. Surprised? If so, let’s see which models did:

With seating for up to five and a wide selection of trim levels, it’s clear to see how the 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe earned a badge from Consumer Guide. This SUV actually shares some powertrain options and cutting-edge technology features with the Kia Sorento. For the 2022 model year, Hyundai added a Plug-In Hybrid version and off-road-appearance XRT trim level – it includes body-side steps, different wheels, and blacked-out body trim.

If you have a growing family (or lots of cargo to haul), the 2022 Kia Sorento is a great choice. It features three rows of seating, a comfortable cabin, and four powertrain options. Sorento LX and S trim levels come equipped with a 191-horsepower 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine. EX, SX, and the SX Prestige models feature a 281-horsepower turbocharged 2.5 four engine.

The 2022 Kia Telluride

The 2022 Kia Telluride is the largest SUV the brand has ever built. It offers a generous amount of cargo and passenger space. It also features a premium appearance from the inside out. The Telluride can comfortably seat up to eight people and comes equipped with a powerful 291-horsepower 3.8-liter V6 mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.

There is also an efficient hybrid option for those who want to save money at the gas pump. All models are available with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. All trims except for the L and XSE are available with a 243-horsepower gas/electric hybrid 4-cylinder powertrain.

One of these features is the available 10.25-inch widescreen touchscreen display and the One-Touch second-row seats for easier third-row access. The available Driver Talk in-car intercom system includes a Sleep Mode, so they do not disturb sleeping passengers in the back rows.

The 2022 Toyota Venza

The Toyota Venza is a 2-row, 5-passenger midsize crossover SUV that “re-debuted” for the 2021 model year. The best part? It comes standard with a hybrid powertrain and all-wheel drive. Even the entry-level LE models come well-equipped with features like keyless entry, a wireless smartphone charger, and the Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 suite of safety features.
