For the 2020 models, we saw Army Green and the 2019 color for TRD Pro models was Voodoo Blue. Then 2018 saw Cavalry Blue, 2017 TRD Pros got Cement, and, well…you get the picture. TRD Off Road and TRD Pro models have some pretty sick colors. Will the new TRD Pro color be enough?

Lunar Rock

This new Lunar Rock color is no slouch. It is unique, edgy, and definitely has a little touch of nature that many TRD Pro fans will appreciate. Though most of these Toyota TRD models are basically dinosaurs at this point, we can at least appreciate the exciting new TRD Pro color, right? Maybe not.

It’s not really that unique

Various Toyota Forums are lit right now following the recent release of the all-new Lunar Rock Toyota 2021 TRD Pro color. This color will roll out on the Toyota Tundra, 4Runner, Tacoma, and Sequoia for the 2021 model. However, not all Toyota TRD Pro loyalists are sold on its unique quality.

On one Toyota 4Runner forum, we find the comment: “Lunar rock is definitely one of those you either love it or hate it colors. Super cheesy that the RAV4 had it first, it pretty much destroys a lot of the “uniqueness” factor that a lot of these pro buyers seem to be searching for.” This may have a little truth to it.

As much as many people love the color, there is something to be said about the fact that the same color has been seen on the RAV4. The TRD Pro colors are usually one of the more exciting parts of the new release each year. And some might think it’s a bit strange to borrow a color from a little crossover like the RAV4 and slap it on a big beast like the Tundra.

Haters love to hate the 2021 TRD Pro Lunar Rock color

There are some people out there that really really don’t like the new Lunar Rock TRD Pro color. For example, one commenter on this Toyota Tacoma forum says the color “looks like baby poop.” If that’s not hating, I don’t know what is.

Others on a Toyota Tundra forum say things like “it’s a lazy man’s cement” or “the army green blows this color out of the water.” There are several comparisons to previous TRD Pro colors, in fact. Mostly comparing the cement color, in favor of cement.

The comments on the Toyota 4Runner forum agree. One user says, “can’t say I’m impressed. It’s almost a re-run of cement.” Though there are comments such as “I like it,” according to these forums, there are a lot of haters already.

It looks different in person

Several people on the forums linked above also agree that the color is strikingly different in person as opposed to the press photos. The Lunar Rock 2021 TRD Pro color is said to be a bit duller than the photos lead on. One Toyota Tundra forum comment reads the “RAV4 adventure is this color and it doesn’t look like this green in person.”

Overall, it looks like the general consensus is that it’s a love it or hate it color. The 2021 TRD Pro color releases on the 2021 Toyota Tacoma, Tundra, Sequoia, and 4Runner TRD Pro models. If you find yourself in love with the color, it’s probably a good idea to check it out in person before you commit to buying one.
