2023 is shaping up to be the year of the truck already. These are some new American pickup trucks coming in 2023 that are going to shake things up a bit. From your standard Ford Ranger midsize truck all the way up to the mostly imaginary Tesla Cybertruck, this year has a lot in store. The history of the pickup truck is about to add an interesting new chapter.

The country is getting three new American pickup trucks from Ford, Chevrolet, and GMC

In this case, these three American pickup trucks are all getting a redesign for 2023. Fox News says the Ford Ranger, Chevrolet Colorado, and GMC Canyon are all new for this year and dropping around the same time. The Ford Ranger will get a Raptor model that reportedly has almost 400 hp from its turbo V6 engine. On top of that, Ford added upgraded suspension designed for high-speed off-roading. While this truck is available as a 2023 model on other markets, it might appear as a 2024 model in the U.S.

Both the 2023 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon are the Ranger’s competition. GMC’s Canyon is getting a new, more grown-up styling for next year. The new GMC Canyon AT4X trim is set to reach 310 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque, as is the new Chevy Colorado ZR2. Otherwise, the base engines get 237 hp all around.

The midsize pickup truck segment is about to get a lot more crowded at the top. No matter which brand buyers are loyal to, having three brand-new trucks to choose from always makes sales interesting.

New American trucks like the Silverado and the Sierra are going electric

The new American pickup truck is going all-electric! The Chevrolet Silverado EV and the GMC Sierra EV are both brand new and ready to take on the Ford F-150 Lightning. Both the Silverado and Sierra are getting over 400 miles of range and should be able to tow 10,000 pounds. For the Silverado EV WT (Work Truck), the price starts at $41,595. Those interested in the 754 hp Silverado RST and Sierra EV Denali will have to pay more than $100,000. Both trucks will also use the new GM Ultium electric vehicle platform.

The Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 starts at $107,000 and has a five-foot, eleven-inch bed that can extend to nine feet with some seat folding. With 785 lb-ft of torque while in Max Power mode, the Sierra EV can go from zero to 60 mpg in 4.5 seconds. The electric GMC truck will utilize the same 200-kilowatt-hour battery pack that the Hummer EV uses.

Eventually, the Tesla Cybertruck will hit the road (maybe)

You must consider the Tesla Cybertruck when listing new American trucks for 2023. If the Cybertruck actually makes it to fruition in 2023, it will probably be quite popular. There have been significant hiccups in production since Tesla announced the project back in 2019, but things have been moving along lately. The Cybertruck was slated to hit the market last year, but 2023 could be its year. If that happens, it will be one of the most exciting new American pickup trucks in ages.

Either way, these American trucks will hit the road sooner than later. If you are in the market for a new truck, it might be a good idea to contact your local dealership. One of the best ways to get a new vehicle these days is to order it directly. Sometimes automakers do not have enough production availability for everyone, which has undoubtedly been the case with the Ford F-150 Lightning and its 200,000 reservations.
