For now, we aren’t getting the Mazda CX-60 in America. But that’s not a reason to instantly count it out. The 2022 Mazda CX-60 is just the beginning and has unique features that will be available with new models that are coming to the United States. 

The Mazda CX-60 is an innovative start 

It is a bit of a bummer that we can’t have the 2022 Mazda CX-60 in America. But we get to make other countries jealous with the 2023 Mazda CX-50 that’s beefed up for off-roading adventures. 

Plus, we can use the Mazda CX-60 to discover clues about bigger and better SUVs that will be available in the United States. Upcoming models like the two-row Mazda CX-70 and three-row Mazda CX-90 will share a few parts. 

For example, the CX-60 is the first model to ride on the new in-line six rear-wheel drive platform. The CX-70 and CX-90 will use this platform too and could gain powerful new V6 engine options. The CX-60 is larger than the CX-5, and the new models are expected to be even bigger. 

How much power does the 2022 CX-60 have? 

The 2022 Mazda CX-60 is equipped with the new longitudinal engine layout and a standard hybrid plug-in powertrain. The system uses a 2.5-liter gas-powered engine and an electric motor to crank out 323 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque. 

According to AutoBlog, this is the most powerful production Mazda ever. It’s expected to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 5.8 seconds. Plus, a multi-plate clutch is connected to a new eight-speed automatic transmission. 

Reportedly, the Mazda CX-60 should provide a 39-mile electric range thanks to the 17-kWh battery pack. Plus, all-wheel drive is standard with the hybrid setup. Soon this platform will support an inline-six engine with a 48-volt hybrid system. 

Soon the CX-30 will be offered with new six-cylinder engines. There are rumors about a naturally aspirated 3.0-liter SkyActive-X engine and a new diesel engine. Also, the six-cylinder engine will be available with RWD and AWD. 

Drive modes for the CX-60 include Normal, Sport, Off-Road, Towing, and EV. When properly equipped, the CX-60 can tow up to 5,500 lbs. The suspension features a double-wishbone design in the front and a multi-link independent rear setup. 

Does the 2022 CX-60 have nice features? 

Yes, the 2022 Mazda CX-60 is faster, sportier, and more fuel-efficient. These upgrades can be expected to arrive in the United States soon with the upcoming CX-70, CX-90, and refreshed CX-5 models. 

The standard 12.3-inch infotainment system is now faster with new search functions. Plus, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included. A new facial recognition system will set the seating, climate, and instrument settings to your personal preferences when you sit in the driver seat. 

The interior takes things to a new level with Nappa leather, wood trim, and woven textiles. We should see these upgrades emerge with the CX-70 model first. Then the CX-90 will arrive to replace the CX-9. 

We can’t wait for the new models to gain enhanced comfort, sportier handling, more power, and smarter tech. We wish the CX-60 would debut here, but at least it provides clues about the models on the way.
