We’ve seen the updated Chevy Silverado 1500, not it’s time for the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 to steal the spotlight. These trucks are cousins and could have a few things in common. However, the Sierra should take things a step further as a luxury truck.

The official reveal of the 2022 Sierra 1500 is tonight, October 21, at 8 PM ET. That’s only a few hours away, but if you can’t wait to see it, we have a few teasers. Check out a few clues about what to expect.

What’s new with the 2022 Sierra?

The 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 will have updated looks. The new front end could include a larger grille and more prominent C-shaped headlights. This new look will help the Sierra 1500 stand out more against the Silverado.

Based on teasers and spy shots, the rear end will be revised as well. We could see new taillights and a new bumper design. Also, a few new wheel designs and options should be available.

The interior should address common complaints. The outgoing model has been criticized for feeling dated and bland. While the Sierra’s interior could mirror the Silverado’s, it could also take things a step further with more premium upgrades for comfort and convenience.

There is a new trim known as the Sierra Denali Ultimate. It could include more tech and comfort than ever before. Rumors suggest that a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 13.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system are on the way.

Plus, the new GMC Sierra 1500 will feature the Super Cruise highway driver assist feature. It will allow drivers to go hands-free. The system incorporates automatic lane changing and works while towing a trailer.

Another new trim includes the GMC Sierra AT4X. This should be the Sierra’s most capable off-roading trim ever. We don’t expect it to be on the same level as the Ram 1500 TRX, but it could rival the Toyota Tundra TRD Pro.

Will the new Sierra have more power?

The 2022 GMC Sierra could gain more power. A new version of the 2.7-lite inline-four turbocharged engine in the Silverado increased the torque from 348 to 420 lb-ft. The horsepower is expected to remain at the same 310 ponies.

With the 5.3-liter V8 engine, you get 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque. The 6.2-liter V8 option provides 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. Also, the 3.0-liter turbo-diesel Duramax engine pumps out 277 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque.

Its towing capacity is expected to increase to about 13,000 lbs. Also, the max trailering package will be available with the Duramax engine. The 2021 Sierra can tow up to 11,800 lbs, so an increase in power will be exciting.

We will keep you updated as we learn more about the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 this evening. So far, they’ve kept things under wraps. Pricing may increase from $30,100 by a few thousand bucks to cover the upgrades.
