The 2022 GMC Sierra Is Getting Incredible Interior Upgrades

The 2022 GMC Sierra Denali could have an entirely redesigned interior. One significant change includes the introduction of a new gear level that’s replacing the familiar column-mounted shifter. It also looks like it’s wrapped in leather, glossy plastic, and chrome.

The fourth-generation GMC Sierra 1500 emerged in 2019, so this truck doesn’t exactly feel old or outdated. However, we suppose it’s a good time for a refresh, and according to Autoblog, the 2022 GMC Sierra is getting a little more than expected.

Spy photos reveal a new windscreen infotainment system built into the dash above new thin air vents. There are still large buttons and knobs placed around the screen, so you can probably use the system as a touchscreen or use the dials.

It looks like Google Android Automotive is running in the photos, so it’s safe to expect it to come standard along with Apple CarPlay. Including Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto would really provide a luxury feel.

The climate control provides a simple and intuitive layout. The buttons and knobs feature a glossy black color with chrome accents. They have angled surfaces, and even the push-button start is wrapped in chrome.

It’s difficult to determine if the spy shots are of the Denali trim or lower model options. But it certainly provides an elegant and luxurious feel. Also, the new updates could be exclusive to the Denali trim.

The new digital cluster display is an option we would like to see available on more models. It replaces the GMC Sierra’s current gauges with vibrant pops of colors and could be necessary for the General Motors Super Cruise system.

The GMC Sierra refresh will also include revisions to the front end. We may see a new headlight design with a revised front bumper. New tail lamps and an updated rear bumper are expected as well.

General Motors Super Cruise system is a new feature that is optional for the 2022 GMC Sierra Denali. It’s a semi-autonomous driver assistance feature that allows you to take your hands off the wheel for extended periods on the highway.

The 2022 GMC Hummer EV will be the first vehicle to adopt this new tech, but the 2022 Sierra models will quickly follow suit. It’s also available with the GMC Yukon and Cadillac Escalade. So far, the system can be operated on over 200,000 miles of roads in the United States and Canada. It allows drivers to remain hands-free while towing a trailer, and you can engage in an automatic lane change by using the turn signal stalk. Infrared lights will be used to ensure that drivers are paying attention at all times.

We can’t wait to learn more about the GMC Sierra. Clues suggest that we could even get a new GMC Sierra AT4 model for off-roading. We should learn more by the end of the summer and will keep you updated every step of the way.
