If you aren’t ready for an electric vehicle consider saving fuel with a snazzy hybrid option. The Kia Telluride Hybrid might change the game once it arrives. While the Kia Telluride has received top honors for years, it doesn’t have the best fuel economy yet.

What to expect with the Kia Telluride Hybrid

The 2025 Kia Telluride Hybrid could emerge soon, but we do expect to see the similar Hyundai Palisade Hybrid roll out first. These vehicles are basically fraternal twins with tons of parts in common.

However, while the Palisade is more luxurious and athletic, the Telluride is more valuable, rugged, and capable. Both are solid options.

Anyways, we have the Kia Sportage Hybrid, the Kia Sorento Hybrid, and now the Kia Carnival Hybrid. Rumors suggest that the Palisade Hybrid is next up, so it makes sense for the Telluride Hybrid to be next in line.

The 2025 Telluride Hybrid could arrive to kick off the next generation with a revamped exterior style and interior upgrades.

Don’t be surprised if the new Telluride adopts L-shaped LED headlights that wrap around the corners of the grille like the Carnival, Sorento, and EV9 to match the rest of the lineup.

The Telluride Hybrid could share the same powertrain with the Carnival. The Carnival Hybrid pairs a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine with an electric motor to generate 242 hp and 271 lb-ft of torque. It’s currently Kia’s most powerful hybrid option.

This setup could provide more power with the Telluride Hybrid because it’s smaller and lighter than the Carnival. The Carnival Hybrid doesn’t have official EPA estimates yet, but Kia is targeting 32 mpg.

The 2023 Telluride gets an EPA-estimated 20 mpg in the city and up to 26 mpg on the highway, so getting to 32 mpg would be an improvement.

Hopefully, the Telluride Hybrid will tow at least 5,000 lbs. The Carnival Hybrid can tow up to 3,500 lbs but that’s the same towing capacity as the gas-powered Carnival. The gas-powered Telluride can tow up to 5,500 lbs.

It’s also safe to expect the new Telluride to gain updated dual screens for the digital gauge cluster and infotainment system, custom ambient lighting, a dedicated off-roading model, more advanced safety tech, and new system software. Stay tuned for updates.
