Well-known celebrity Jason Momoa was recently involved in a head on traffic collision with a motorcyclist. Luckily, everything came out fine. The accident happened while Momoa was driving a vintage muscle car from one of his films. The Justice League actor could not avoid the accident when the rider came around a curve and crossed into his traffic lane.

Jason Momoa is best known for his role as Aquaman

The 43-year-old actor got his start in the entertainment industry by playing a sexy young lifeguard on the television series Baywatch from 1999-2001. According to Today, he was only 20 at the time, and “the actor was rocking short hair and a clean-shaven look, and he didn’t have any of his distinctive tattoos.”

From 2005 to 2009, Momoa became a regular on the television series, Stargate: Atlantis. In 2011 he was cast as Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones after his performance in the film Conan the Barbarian. But, it was his 2016 role as Aquaman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice that he achieved worldwide notoriety and attention.

According to IMDb, Momoa will reprise his Aquaman role in the 2023 film Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.

A frightening head-on collision with a motorcyclist

ET reported the California Highway Patrol confirmed Momoa was involved in a crash on July 24, 2022, along Old Topanga Road in LA. The motorcycle driver was thrown from the bike when he “crossed over the double yellow lines directly into the path of Momoa’s 1970 Oldsmobile.” The motorcyclist went to the hospital with “minor, non-life threatening injuries.”

The accident report states that the Dune actor exited his vehicle immediately to help the motorcycle driver. He stopped a passing motorist requesting they call 911 for assistance, remaining at the scene until police officers arrived. There were no arrests made in connection with the unfortunate incident.

According to TMZ, the motorcyclist was traveling in the opposite direction of Momoa when he came around a curve and “crossed over into Jason’s lane during this bend, and then hit the left front end of his Oldsmobile muscle car … and kinda went flying, albeit only briefly.” The rider reportedly landed on his feet but “not before bouncing off of JM’s windshield and clearing the hood of his car to end up on the other side.”

At the time of the car crash, The Game of Thrones actor was driving a 1970 Oldsmobile 442 that was used in the 2021 Netflix movie Sweet Girl. According to Auto Evolution, the actor helped with the restoration of the vehicle after the production team completely rusted it out to look vintage for the cameras.

In the Netflix film, the Oldsmobile was involved in a “spectacular car chase” with Momoa behind the wheel. When filming was complete, the Justice League actor got to keep the car for his own personal use. Momoa is an avid vintage motorcycle and car collector, once saying in a Men’s Journal article, “I hoard everything when it comes to bikes and trucks and cars.”

Auto Evolution reported that the Oldsmobile 442 originated as an option for the Cutlass, becoming its own model in 1968, with the 1970 vehicle released as an upgraded version. As the muscle-car era was nearing its end, “Oldsmobile produced one of the last rag-top muscle cars, and it was the 442.”

A 7.5-liter V8 engine pumped a powerful 365 hp with 500 lb-ft of torque. According to Hot Cars, the 442 name “derives from the original car’s four-barrel carburetor, four-speed manual transmission, and dual exhausts.” Listed as an option on the 1970 Oldsmobile 442 was an eight-track stereo system, which Momoa most likely kept intact to play his favorite heavy metal music while traversing the California canyons.
