Hyundai makes some of the most accessible vehicles on the marketplace today. From small, affordable economy sedans to high-end luxury electric vehicles, it seems that while many vehicle companies are simplifying their lineups, Hyundai continues to offer a wide range of products.

Throughout the Hyundai lineup, there are a wide array of SUVs produced by this South Korean company. With how popular SUVs, and more particularly crossover SUVs, have gotten, it is no surprise that Hyundai is looking to bring in as many customers as possible by offering a wide range of SUVs for different purposes. Cars.com’s recent study regarding vehicle storage space reflects this wide range of SUV offerings with Hyundai producing models with the least and the most amount of storage room in the SUV market.

Small SUV with the least amount of space: Hyundai Kona

Technically, the Hyundai Kona isn’t the SUV with the least amount of space on the market, that award would go to the Lexus UX subcompact crossover. However, this Lexus is more of a hybrid hatchback than a crossover SUV. With the Lexus UX marketed as a hybrid-standard, luxury vehicle that toes the line between SUV and hatchback, the Hyundai Kona is the SUV on the market with the least amount of cargo space as a full-fledged SUV.

The Kona itself is a successful and impressive car. In fact, this Hyundai may be one of the most versatile on the market today. It is offered with both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive options, as well as a gasoline-only model, a hybrid-electric model, and a fully electric model.

With so many models in the Kona lineup, it’s easy to forget that this is a small subcompact SUV with only 10.9 cu-ft of space behind the rear seats. This is less storage room than a Toyota Prius, Audi A3, or even the mid-size Hyundai Sonata. The Kona has the least amount of storage space out of any Hyundai model, making it a tough sell if you are looking to haul a significant amount of stuff.

The Hyundai Tucson Hybrid offers a surprising amount of cargo room

Not every SUV can be a winner when it comes to available storage space, but the Hyundai Tuscon is a champion in this category. With 21.7 cu-ft of space, the Tuscon Hybrid has more storage space than any other small SUV, even beating its gasoline-only Tuscon variant by a few inches. This storage space is even more impressive when fuel economy comes into play, with the Hyundai Tuscon Hybrid offering 38 mpg combined thanks to its hybrid drivetrain.

For an MSRP of just $31,350, Tucson Hybrid owners have one of the best values on the market, both in storage space and fuel economy. For around $37,500, consumers can get the Tuscon plug-in hybrid, which offers around 33 miles of all-electric driving range.

Regardless of whether you want to go with the Tuscon Hybrid or smaller with a Kona, you are bound to find yourself behind the wheel of an excellent Hyundai SUV that offers just enough size for your needs at a great price.
