The 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is the fourth model year of the midengine C8 platform. In that time, the ‘Vette has evolved from a front-engine, bleeding-edge sports car to a budget-friendly supercar alternative. So, just how fast is the 2023 Corvette Stingray and its Z51 performance package?

The 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z51 Coupe can hit 0 to 60 mph in 2.8 seconds on its way to an 11.2-second quarter mile.

Corvette 0 to 60 mphStanding ¼ mile
C8 Corvette Stingray (Z51)2.8 seconds11.2 seconds
C8 Corvette Stingray Convertible (Z51)3.0 seconds11.4 seconds
C8 Corvette Z062.6 seconds10.5 seconds
C8 Corvette Z06 Convertible2.7 seconds10.7 seconds

Unsurprisingly, the 2023 Chevrolet Corvette 0-60 mph crown belongs to the high-revving Z06 Coupe. However, the Stingray Z51 is more than capable of sub-3.0-second sprints to 60 mph. Moreover, the heavier convertibles lose a bit of the snappy thrust in the coupe models. Understandable, given the Convertible Z51’s extra 101 lbs.

How fast can a stock Corvette go?

It’s not just acceleration figures; General Motors claims the 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray will hit a top speed of 184 mph.

The 670-horsepower Z06 will push just a bit further, hitting 189 mph, per Car and Driver. While top speeds like those aren’t enough to contend with a Lamborghini Huracán Tecnica, it’s more than enough to land you a serious speeding ticket on public roads. Just kidding– try a prison cell.

How much power does the 2023 Chevrolet Corvette produce?

The 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray produces 490 horsepower from its naturally aspirated LT2 V8. However, savvy ‘Vette enthusiasts would option the dual-mode performance exhaust to bump those numbers up to 495 horsepower.

Corvette Stingray6.2L LT2 V8495 horsepower/470 lb-ft of torque6,450 RPM
Corvette Z065.5L LT6 V8670 horsepower/460 lb-ft of torque8,500 RPM

Both the 2023 Stingray and Z06 channel power and torque via a dual-clutch automatic transmission. Consequently, one of the most significant gripes among Corvette enthusiasts is the lack of a manual transmission. It’s an unfortunate omission, considering the eager seven-speed manual option (yes, seven) in the C7 Corvette.
