The Kia Telluride will be all-new for 2023. Kia is unveiling its redesigned three-row crossover SUV on April 13th. In the meantime, here are the first images of the Kia Telluride and what we know about its powertrain.

Will the 2023 Kia Telluride have AWD?

According to Kia, the 2023 Telluride will still have AWD on certain trims. In addition, it will introduce an off-roading variant: the 2023 Kia Telluride X-Pro.

My colleague Allison Barfield already reported on the first spy shots of the aggressive 2023 Telluride. The new Telluride has updated LED headlights that feature dramatic, vertical accents. The rear end has similar, vertical reflectors. Finally, stacked fog lights add to its appeal.

The 2023 Kia Sportage features an X-Pro trim with all-terrain tire and off-road rims. Will we see a similar, off-road capable Telluride for 2023? It would certainly fit with the aggressive new exterior design. And what’s more, Kia has already trademarked the name “Telluride X-pro.”

For motorheads, one of the most exciting things about the Telluride’s interior is its revised exhaust system. Is the SUV packing a new powerplant?

Will the 2023 Kia Telluride have a new engine?

We expect the 2023 Kia Telluride’s AWD trims to also feature a 3.5-liter V6 twin-turbocharged engine rated for up to 375 horsepower. This would be a major upgrade from the 291 horsepower naturally-aspirated V6 in the outgoing Telluride.

How do we know this? The 2023 Kia Telluride will likely share Hyundai’s all-new M3 platform with the 2022 Genesis GV80. The RWD GV80 has a 2.5-liter turbocharged I4. But the AWD version gets a more powerful V6.

If the 2023 Telluride moves to the M3 platform, then its LX and S trim levels will transition from FWD to RWD. This would obviously be major news.

The 2022 Genesis GV80–and the M3 platform underpinning it–won multiple awards for excellent engineering. This includes J.D. Power’s highest-rated new vehicle and our own MotorBiscuit SUV of the year. This chassis should be a major upgrade for the 2023 Kia Telluride.

Will the Kia Telluride have a larger infotainment screen?

The 2020 Kia Telluride debuted with a 10.25-inch touchscreen featuring Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. But the first official images of the 2023 Telluride tease a seriously upgraded interior and a wider screen.

In the above photo, it is obvious that the 2023 Kia Telluride features a huge infotainment screen. The screen stretches from the driver’s area, along the dashboard, and over the center console.

The new Kia screen is slightly reminiscent of the Mercedes EQS concepts’ revolutionary, dashboard-width screen. The 2023 Telluride screen obviously combines the driver’s digital gauge cluster and the central infotainment screen into a single unit. Therefore, Kia will have to break it up into zones.

Finally, the outline of the 2023 Telluride’s grille is reminiscent of the original Kia Telluride concept car. See the concept car compared to the production 2020 Telluride in the video below:
