According to Cars.com, the Telluride offers everything a family needs while emphasizing value. They evaluated every 2022 vehicle regardless of when it was introduced or updated, giving multiple rivals a chance. But noteworthy competitors include the Kia Carnival and Chevy Suburban. 

Each vehicle was judged based on crash tests, safety features, family accommodations, cargo space, family-friendly features, and overall performance. 

How does the Telluride perform? 

You can get started in a 2022 Kia Telluride for about $33,090. It comes with a stout 3.8-liter V6 engine 291 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 7.5 seconds, which is on par with rivals. 

While the Telluride is an SUV, it doesn’t feel large and lumbering. The steering is stable around turns without excessive body roll around curves. The brakes are confident and smooth. Plus, the engine’s fuel-saving start-and-stop feature works quickly fluidly. 

The Telluride has a pretty smooth ride over most surfaces, but it can feel rough over uneven pavement. It has a luxury-quiet cabin, but sometimes engine noise is noticeable. But it has a pleasant roar.

The Telluride gets an EPA-estimated 20 mpg in the city and up to 26 mpg on the highway. This isn’t the best fuel economy, but it’s average for a three-row SUV.

The 2022 Kia Telluride has plenty of space for passengers in all three rows. Large windows provide plenty of natural light for a spacious feeling. You can access up to 21 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row and up to 87 cubes total. 

The doors have wide openings, and the hatch opening is wide at a convenient height. Loading cargo and installing car seats is easy. 

Plus, the tech is clearly labeled and easy to use. A 10.3-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto comes standard. You can opt for a 110-volt power inverter and wireless phone charger. Also, the Driver Talk system amplifies the driver’s voice in the rear speakers to enhance communication with passengers. 

The Kia Telluride earned top safety ratings from the Insurance Institue of Highway Safety (IIHS). Standard features include automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assistance, and rear-cross traffic alert. 

Other SUVs simply don’t match the comfort, luxury, space, safety features, and level of driver engagement that the Kia Telluride provides. It’s one well-rounded family SUV.
